Wheel bearing problem

I am suffering in this problem too, i have a stone hitting noise when i turn left, and have no problem when i turn right or go straight. The mechanic told me to keep driving and until it get worse, because he said he cannot sure that really is a wheel bearing problem. However, i am not feel safe when i have those noise in every left corners. Please advise what i can do. Thank you

I thought my disc brakes were rusted and scraping after the car sat a while, but a "scraping" sound exists on the right front tire. Could this be the wheel bearing? I also thought it might be something with the power steering. Anyone?

it can be many things morty...such as if you were driving in some construction area you could've gotten a pebble stuck in there between the rotor and metal cover. if that's the case it will usually work itself out.

another could be the pad wear indicator on your brakes...

wheel bearing noise sounds like this errie DC10 engine noise while driving down the hwy. the pitch doesnt change but gets louder while you speed up.

If it is a wheel bearing, at about 40-50 MPH it will get louder when turning one direction than the other.

I had a humming noise coming from the front end. I brought it into the dealership just the other day. Turns out, the left front wheel bearing needs to be replaced.

I have an extended warranty, but I was told that it would have been coverend under the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty anyway.

BTW, I'm at 51k.

...and at much lower speeds.

Basically throw it into a narrow turn and listen for growling noise that goes away once the g-forces of turning have diminished. You have to "load the chassis" or force the bearing to load up on one side or another.

If you once heard it only when turning and now hear it in a straight line, your bearing is really bad.

Your mechanic is an idiot, get a new one. One thing he should have done was check the wheels for play. A bad wheel bearing will cause an abnormal amount of play in a wheel due to the fact that the bearing is wearing. Driving too long on a bad bearing can also damage the spindle.
