Fit Breaking Problems?

Has anyone experience brake problems with their fit?

I had mine returned to the dealer for service about 5 times now due to vibrations in my brakes (when i step on it). They said that it was warped. So in the 5 visits i had they machined it thrice (for the original rotor), then replaced the rotor (in my 4th visit), then the last one they machined the rotor again and this time replaced the brake pads.....Guess what? after 1000miles the problem is there again.

Note that I dont do hard brakes but I do drive most of the times in interstate highways.

Any suggestions on what is causing this or what else i can ask them to do? I am planning to ask them to check the rear brakes as well to make sure that it is gripping good and not causing strain in my front brakes.

Thanks! This problem is really annoying me.

keep bringing your back to them...it is possible they arent resurfacing them correctly.

You should use the Lemon law. If you have to bring a car back more than 3 times for the same problem they have to give you a new one. You should check into it.

they should have checked the wheel balance as well, wheels that are way out can cause rotor warping, but i think you would have noticed that.

another thing, if the master cylinder is too full, the fluid can expand under heat, and create enough pressure, to drag the brakes,
pretty rare, but just something else to check.

do you know how the rotors were machined?, either on the car, or off the car on a lathe,

Well if they put new rotors on it and use a torque wrench to tighten the wheels down rather than an impact gun that should do the trick. Make sure your not getting any vibration from the rear drums too. You can try pulling on the parking brake while going about 15mph to see if you feel any pulsating from the rear drums.

i had that same problem with my brakes took them back in for my regular B1 service, they machined them and sent me on my way and less then a month later the problem returned only it happened when i was going 100km/h down the highway and had to stop lets just say my brakes jumped and stuttered and ended up not working at all, i slammed into the back of a work van...end result 8k worth of damage to my car, oh yeah the car only has 20k kms on it

As stated improperly torqued lug nuts can cause that problem. You arent using any dust shields to keep dust off the wheels are you? Those things are horrendous for causing brake problems.

Only time I get that is if I've been on the brakes hard and am going downhill to a stop, some vibration/fade, but come on, we have rear drums.

I had a little vibration after a "professional" (air wrench) tire rotation. I retorqued the lugs and have done my own rotations since. The problem went away.

Thanks for everyone's reply.

Basically, i dont have an aftermarket wheel, the rear drum brakes aint vibrating, and i dont have a dust shield.

Now, i brought my fit this morning to the dealer but the odd thing is that the sound in my brakes were gone. Not sure if it fixed itself.
I talked to the mechanic as we had a test drive and he told me that he used a torque wrench and not an impact gun, machined it while its attached in the car, they replaced the breakpads. Now since its hard to diagnose the problem since the sound in the brakes are gone we just decided that ill give them a call and bring the car over when it occurs again. Really odd....

Do you have Honda stock brake pads? Or aftermarket, which definitely could be a reason for warped rotors. Some pads with high friction numbers generate a large amount of heat. And it can be brake pad residue left on the rotors when you parked. That will leave a 'high' spot that axcts like a warped rotor. Both of those are aftermarket pads; the latter mostly Chinese manufacture.
And naturally, as someone else said it could be just poor rotor truing. Make sure they don't reduce rotor thickness to less than 3/4"; lesser requires new rotors.

Check out the tech articles at Powerbrake - High Performance Brake Discs / Rotors , that should shed some light on your problem and offer a possible long term solution once you've correctly diagnosed the problem...

could it be from washing your car/tires and rims after driving your car while the rotors are still hot? putting cold water on them right after driving can warp em cant they? just an idea....

One of the main problems with resurfacing the rotors is some grinders develop a synchronous travel that causes the surface to be 'wavy'.
That means the tresurfaced rotors already have a high spot that will drag on the pads. If the first grind didn't do the job they should have gone for new rotors, not the 4th.
Now I would suspect that a pad piston is sticking. Does the 'vibration' tend to pull the Fit to one side if you don't maintain straight line with steering? If a piston sticks, that is doesn't match the other wheel brake it can cause the rotor wear to be uneven on that side and that leads to a 'warped' rotor tho its not really warped, just 'scooped' on one side. Maybe the techs noted that. If so the caliper should be replaced or the piston hole reamed and the piston/seal replaced. Personally I'd replace the caliper; lot less costly.
good luck.

Then don't run thru puddles when driving in the mountains.
Washing discs sholudn't lead to warped rotors. And lots of racers used to splash water on brake rotors during pit stops to keep from getting brake fade leaving the pits.
