i think somthing is wrong LOL

i have 2k miles on my car i have been getting 20-24 MPG WTF i hardly ever beat it hardly ever have the AC on so whats wrong with this thing?

Could be your drive route as well. All the little things add up. I say give it a little more to break in and go from there. The Fit, and most econo cars for that matter, are cars that you have to learn to drive. This is something manufacturers forget to mention. Less hp means you have to live with less power. Hitting the gas to keep up with traffic during stop and go's can negate any mpg gains because the engine has to work harder to keep up. Get used to going slower and you should see it go up. I tried to drive the way I did with my old Integra at first and my mpg was crap. It matched the Integra at its best, minus the 200K miles. Once I adjusted my driving mpg went up to 30-31. On long road trips from California to Colorado 36-37mpg easy.

How heavy are your aftermarket wheels? Unsprung weight matters.
Like said above, wait for the break-in period ends then
you should see some improvement.

I can't be any happier averaging around 37 mpg.

my wheels are like 15lbs each i think with out the tire i could be wront tho there ultra lite konig heliums

I have roughly 3500 miles and just recently I've been clearing 30mpg. First tanks were 27-29mpg. My last 2 tanks were 31.5 and 32.5mpg and I drive an Auto, City/Highway. Should be better once we do our first oil change too.

One thing I learned was to accelerate slowly (slower than what I already thought I was doing before). Don't let the revs hit 3k.

I have had my fit for less than a month now. It is an AT Sport. My first tank was 32MPG and my second was 34MPG. So far my third looks to be the best yet. I also just installed and Intake between tanks 2 and 3.

The big thing to keep in mind is what has been mentioned above. Driving style. Come to terms with the fact that the car is less HP than most cars. I went from driving an 07 Mitsu Eclipse GT, modded to 300 WHP. (As seen in my Avatar) I am use to being the leader of the pack and nobody usually even though about riding my ass or trying to pass me. Just the occasional Corvette or other modded up car. But now I have cars who ride me and pass me all the time because they know they can. I just accept it and drive the car as it was meant to be driven.

That doesn't mean you can't mod the Fit and have some fun every now and then. Just be ready to pay the price at the pump. I have an intake and plan on getting a Cat-back on my Fit. So when I drive normal I get better MPGs. But When I want to have a little fun I can.

Keep an eye on your RPMs. The best practice for good MPGs is stay below 3K at all times even during acceleration. That is what I do on a normal basis. If you go much higher VTEC kicks in and MPGs will go way down. Of course the lower you keep your RPMs the better MPGs. But you start to become more of a hazard if you go to slow.

DIY intake hmmm what was the mpg before this little change?

Describe how you drive and your normal commute with the most detail you can muster and I'll tell you how you can do better..

i drive all city miles i never have it full throttle half if im trying to climb a hill i try and keep it under 4k i dont drive fast i might go 10 over i had the AC on last week about 2hrs a day when its the hotest. i dont know what else to say about how i drive.. and i thought i read somewhere on the forms that the DIY intake only hurt MPG by like 2-3mpg

don't put it off any longer. trying to get crazy mileage is SO much more fun than speeding. it's like a race to get 40+.

yea i get pretty crappy mpg compared to the MT's out there...i always keep the rpms around 3k and 3.5k because its LA and ppl are douchebags on the road, so u get cut off all the time if u keep more than 3ft of space between the car
