I think the Mugen knobs are hideous and akwardly shaped but I have the shifter in my Fit and I couldn't be happier. I've felt the T1R and it really doesn't feel much shorter than stock, but the shorter height with the shorter throw of the Mugen is so crisp. You really can't go wrong.

The shifter is a $220 well spent, by far my favorite pick up for the Fit, I'm running a black spoon knob and I love the way it feels, it never gets hot in the summer, and never gets cold in the winter.

thats the same setup i have. mugen short shifter, spoon duracon shift knob and mugen shift boot. i am VERY happy with my set up. the mugen short shifter is super easy to install and it fits like a factory part. i recommend the short shifter but i dont think you should spend that kind of money on the mugen shift knob.

How's the Mugen boot look in person? All the pics I've seen make it look kinda plasticy and grey.

One more vote here for the Mugen shifter and shift boot, I love mine. If you do get the shifter, I suggest picking up a set of H-Fit hard shifter mounts as well. They make an already nice feeling shifter feel even more precise and direct, and they're cheap too. Since you'll already have the shifter out anyway when making the change, might as well drop 'em in at the same time. As for shift knobs, yeah there's much better and cheaper ones than the Mugen. I have a Project Mu knob myself and love it -- I moved it from my old xB to the Fit first day I bought the car.

the mugen boot is really really nice out of the box. but after a few days of getting some sun, it starts to dry out and get a little greyish. i just rubbed it down with some leather conditioner today and it looks brand new. you just have to maintain it which is kind of a bitch but its worth it to get rid of that ugly rubber accordian boot

Very good actually -- high quality textured leather with good stitching. It's not too soft and not too stiff, just right to keep its shape once mounted. Color is not pitch black, but not grey by any means either, so it fits in very nicely with the Fit's decor. A little bit expensive, but I'd buy it again if I had too.

Sounds like a nice pickup. I'll sell a couple cb7 shifters then pick one up.

Is it true that short shifters screw up the tranny in the long run?
