Fit at the Drive-In

Took the Fit to the drive in. It was a great setup, except my battery died. I had an employee jump start it, and he said I was supposed to turn the car on every 30 minutes. Woops!

I've never seen a drive in that you back into? Whats up with that?
We look out the front windshield here.

you look out the front windshield if you don't lay in the back on the magic seats!

I think we have one Drive-in in FL. Thats from what Ive heard, Ive never seen it and have no idea where its at.

Looks like fun.
I dont understand why your batt died though? Leaving the key in Acc. normally doesnt kill the batt. Even if its on for an hour+. Ive left mine on for close to an hour when washing my car a few times. Started right up.

Drive ins are so rare now a days. I used to to them with my friend and his dad as a kid. We had a blast. That one closed though

And leaving the hatch open would mean 100 000 mosquito's chewing on your hide.

I have yet to do anything with my Magic Seats, but I'll be borrowing your inspiring setup (hope you don't mind)! No local drive-ins though

I'm now *very* glad I passed on the Versa, where the rear seats don't fold flat against the floor.

I was thinking the same thing--I've never been to a drive-in, though there used to be a few in Ottawa (actually, it seems there still are a couple outside the city). How were you supposed to hear the movie with the windows up--roadcast a low-power radio signal (leading to pokems23's battery dying)?

Maybe some large mosquito netting could be adapted to fit the hatch opening. I wonder if it's worth it though--even if it's a good enough seal on the sides to prevent any from getting in, it would hamper your view quite a bit.

BTW this isn't the first time I've heard about the Fit not being able to run off battery for very long. pokems23, I assume you were in the "On 1" position, rather than "On 2" (which enables a whackload of systems like power windows, vent/AC, etc without actually turning on the car)?

I took my FIT to the drive-in and there was no problem with the battery. The drive-in experience was so horrible though. The first movie started too early to actually see it since it doesn't get dark until very late at this time of the year and the sound was dreadful. The whole experience sounds so much better than it really is.

Looks like fun but I am surprised your battery ran down. I lead our Miata club on a yearly run to a drive in about an hour and half away and we have never had anyone with a dead battery yet. We have the audio running through an AM channel so the radio is all that is on but with two full length movies it has never been a problem. Does the Fit's battery drain that easily?

My bet is user error. They probably had the key in second position not first. Heck the first picture even looks like they left their running lights on.

Check out the size of the fit battery then look up the reserve capacity of it. it is not meant to be running accessories for long.
