the fit has a 10.8 gallon tank. the best way to monitor fuel economy is a scangauge. but you can also fill your tank, drive till you need gas, go to the SAME STATION, SAME PUMP. fill your tank. miles driven divided by gallons of gas put in tank.

Solbrothers has the math right, but it really doesn't matter if you use the same gas pump or even the same gas station. I always reset the trip indicator after each refill and try to fill the tank after approximately the same number of miles. You will have to go through at least 4 or 5 tanks of gas and then average out the results to get a meaningful MPG because headwinds, tailwinds, and even where and when you drive will have an effect on the milage.

good info. you have to do average as noted by flyboybob. i usually do 3 tanks though.
obc is not nearly as accurate, imho.

After every tank, I sit in my car and calculate my MPG. With about 50% highway and 50% street I end up getting 32. If you do it every time you fill up, you'll start to notice what kind of mileage your car gets in different environments, weather, etc.

im saying use the same pump and such because it's gonna be more accurate that way. BUT, the best way to calculate mileage is a scangauge

exactly. that's why its a ****ing joke to measure mileage by calculating the miles traveled/gallons added.

you should be a scangauge spokesman.....

Idk I don't think spending $100 plus on a scangauge that will tell me what kind of gasmileage I am getting when I can calculate it on my own and just drive nicely when I want to. If anything the cost of gas going up has made me watch my gas alot more than any device would ever make me watch it.

dude, if you had a scangauge, you'd know how awesome a scangauge is.

think of it like this. could you drive without a speedometer? sure, but you'd have NO idea how fast you were going. could you remember to get gas without a gas gauge? sure, but you'd never know when you need to get gas.

could you get good gas mileage without a MPG gauge? sure, but you wouldn't know exactly you car is doing EVERY SECOND OF DRIVING. you know "roughly" what your gas mileage was the last tank of gas. I know my gas mileage whenever my key is in the "ON" position. it takes money to save money

I know how it works there is a built in scangauge so to speak in my parents civic hybrid. It keeps realtime mpg. I would gladly use one if someone gave me one and I think it is kinda a neat idea but I don't think I want to spend the money on it.
