First DIY: Cargo cover on the cheap
I had get something to cover the cargo area so prying eyes wouldn't know if any valuables were there (usually there won't be, but ounce of prevention and all that).
Honda Canada charges a ridiculous $250 + tax though. I could import from the US, but I'd still be left with the cargo cover being the most expensive item in the hatch area most of the time
Two curtain rods, one black throw, and four giant fold-back clips later, I had a solution that completely covered the back, but still allowed me to "push back" the cover to fully expose the storage area. A compromise between just tossing a throw on top of anything there, and an overpriced accessory.
Total cost: just over $15.
Won't bother with pictures--it's obviously not that impressive, but I wanted to share my first "DIY" story... may it spur me on to greater things with my new Fit

Window tint might come later--professionally done though. The OEM cover is cheaper, I think
My parts were:
1 IKEA "Index" curtain rod, about 2 cm thick, extends from 120 to 210 cm. $4.99
1 Levolor curtain rod from Walmart, 1.1 cm thick, maximum extension 122 cm. $2.65
1 IKEA Polarvide black throw. $5.99
Had to ensure the rods pieces were stiff enough they didn't collapse back in on themselves, too.
Index rod was extended and fit into the main mounting slots for the cover, behind the rear seats. The Levolor is thin enough to slot into the notches by at the hatch. Throw was folded in half around the Index rod and draped over the Levolor, with the clips fastening the throw to the ends of the rods. Enough of it drapes down so no on can peek down the curve of the window hatch
The Levolor rod can be un-notched, length extended, and rested in the mounting slot to expose the hatch area.
I<3GD3, I'm pleased with my work and wanted to share, but didn't think pictures were warranted on something so simple . Steeldog, thanks for the encouragement.
