Your Opinion Please

I realize there have probably been a billion of these threads....

I just got back from the honda dealership and put a 500 dollar deposit on a BOM fit siting in Japan.

The current totals as it stands would be

$15,905.00 msrp
$74.00 user fee
$398.00 documentation and administration fee
so..
$16,854.15 OTD on a 2008 BOM 5-speed manual with 0 miles on it.

The price seems somewhat high, however I do realize the car is in such demand right now.

Is there any chance to negotiate the price down?

All responses are welcome

Thanks

That is a Base model i assume... if it's a Sport, you are getting a hell of a deal already. The only thing i could suggest is get everything set in INK and then spring a trade in on them to cut cost a bit, but the price is not that unreasonable, especially after TTL.

From what i have seen around here (WI) it's a deal. I can't really speak for the general population seeing as i don't know what everyone else has been paying around the country, but that's not too bad. You may be able to shop around enough to force them down a little bit (ie: a couple of hundred dollars) but in reality they can charge what they want. The cars are selling regardless of the price.

If you already signed a finance agreement i am not sure what they would be able to do for you even if you had a trade in they may draw up a new agreement for the adjusted price and give you less of a "deal" than you would already be getting without one.

No problem. I don't know much, but I do know that the worst things you can say to a dealership before getting a out the door price are the following:

Cash
Trade In
Pay Off
I'll go somewhere else

Best things to say:

Loan
Credit
Today
Ready

There is a thread around here somewhere that asks what everyone payed for their Fit, but I can't find it right now. I'll keep looking though.

I'd be happy if I paid what you're gonna pay. I paid a lot more for my '08 m/t. I got the cargo cover, muffler finisher, & rear bumper thingy in my OTD price. I could've haggled for less, but after 4+ hours I gave up just whipped out the check-book.

Id say its a good deal. And yes, BOM is only in Sport.
I talked to someone Tuesday night, hes looking to get a Fit. A local place is trying to charge hiim 21,000 for a Sport. 5speed.

IDK if it has to do with the gas prices or what, but thats similar prices they were going for when they first came out and they were hard to get.
Thats ridiculous!

I remember before I got my car, I test drove a white base at Coggin Honda with so much aftermarket crap they jacked the price to 22k. And it still had hubcaps. Didnt even know they had that much aftermarket OEM junk. *shrugs*

I paid 16525 for my BOM AT 2 1/2 weeks ago. Sticker was 16705, so I knocked em down a hair. Everything is pricey here in NY, so your price does seem a little high.

For NC that price doesnt seem to far off. I payed about the same for my wifes auto sport a month or so ago. Not that bad at all. They gave me a small break cause already bought a car from them so that was nice.

Your paying about 600 over invoice...

Another great option is to go to your local credit union... they can set u up with a car buyer who deals with managment @ the dealerships... they can get u a couple hundred bucks off but you may have to wait a couple weeks... and please god dont pay more that 5 % intrest on your new car loan... i have too many friends paying 12% +

I got mine for 16,700, that's with the costco discount too. California made me paid state tax of about $1,300 (I was forced to sponsor the governator) . Then I bought extended 7-year warranty for about 1,600. so my total was a little more than 20K. So basically, you're getting a good deal. I don't think Honda will go down on pricing because they don't make big profit on Fits near MSRP pricing compare to the other cars they sell.

user fee is bullshit. its like what they charge for advertisement and shit.

tell them you want costco pricing. its like 300 over invoice. then tell them, you dont want to pay for their advertisement and promotions, when THEY are the ones trying to sell the car.

i used the costco pricing as a tool to bargain cheaper. i got mine at invoice, with no user fees.

It is a base model priced normally in today's market. The $398 doc fee is pure dealer profit as I expect the dealer will charge you for license, tax, and tags additionally at delivery. The 'user fee;' is a new one. What's that for? More dealer profit?

PS if you want Costco pricing you'll have to go to Costco - and wait a longggg time.

What are the advantages of buying from Costco?? Do they offer extended warranties from Costco?

And how long is a LONG TIME?
