Same here. I was $5K upside down in my IS350 and sold it for an incredible $36000 which paid it off. My payments were $800 a month (which I can afford) and my Fit payments are $350. In fact, I just got 1 10% raise and my wife got a 7% raise which calculated would have covered that $800 free and clear. I am much happier with my Fit payment which I should be able to double to tripple the payoff at times. At a certain point in your life (maybe after 30), you realize that having a hot car isn’t what its cracked up to be, especially with our economy and oil situation.

Being 34, I'm definitely hearing you loud and clear. Congrats on the raise as well! While I could be in an $800-1000 loan/lease and afford it, the lack of stress from the car payment can't be ignored.
