Air Filter

Which one should I buy. I am looking of longevity(reusable) and fuel economy.

I just found a HKS air filter($50):eBay Motors: HKS Super Hybrid Air Filter 07-08 Honda Fit GD Jazz JDM (item 300195987275 end time May-02-08 16:29:13 PDT)

Then we have the K&N filter($42-ebay).

Last the stock Honda OEM air filter($25).

The stock one can't be washed, the K&N can and I am not sure about the HKS one.

I do not want to spend over $50 on an air filter.

Does anyone know about the HKS air filter?

Any other air filter suggestions?

HKS does not give any detailed information about their product on their site. But what I can tell you is that $50 is too much to pay for that filter. The HKS site list the filter at $35. If this is the filter you want find a local dealer.

As for the K&N drop in, I just put one in my '08 Fit on Monday. Instantly noticed better air flow (I can hear it) and a more responsive throttle (which does not encourage driving conducive to better fuel economy).

In my opinion you are better off to go with the K&N. They give plenty of info about their product on their Q&A page (K&N Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)) and have a million mile warranty. Oh yeah, and they are reusable.

And don't forget to shop around, you can save some money by not having to pay the shipping from ebay orders. However, you may have to wait as many places aren't stocking these parts (I was told 3 weeks, I had it in 3 days).

Good luck!

Just ordered the K&N with recharger kit for $39 shipped. Woot! I couldn't find it local for under $50 for the damn filter and I could only find it on Ebay for $42. I am pleased since this is just $15 more than the stock filter. Me likey! Now, I just have to wait. Once I get that then It won't be long for an oil change and tranny fluid change either. I just got the tires rotated and balanced today too. I should be clocking mad mpgs soon! Or would that be gangsta mpgs!

As your 43.3 avg "cleanmpg is based on one fill, and nobody on here has proven with data like a scan gauge that an air filter like you just purchased improves fuel economy even but 0.1mpg, consider approaching the install with a scientific approach and document what it does.

It will drop in in 1 min or less so why not do an A-B-A test on three tanks of fuel and your normal commute. You would be my hero!

I can do that. That would be interesting. I hope the K&N wins! :P seeing how I am spending more money on it. lol

You may think I am crazy now, because I am really curious of how much the back and passenger seats weigh..........yeah I want to take them out and if I do I will weigh them. I am use to riding in a civic hatch with no back seat. :P

FYI:

HKS Air Filter - My question was, Is it washable or reusable and the response is below:

Hi, no it is not. But it lasts about 15000 miles which is pretty long. Thank you.

We will see. I plan on doing what "pcs0snq" suggests.

I drop like a jackass Friday, so that will hurt me, and this morning I inflated my tires to 50psi........a little harsher ride but nothing I can't handle. It is taking more concentration than I planed on using the FAS technique but I hope I can become better at it. My ADD makes it hard to think ahead with.
