My Fit yelled at me

So I came home, parked in the garage, pushed the gear into park, pull the parking brake, take out the keys, open the car door, one foot out, and then the car's horn went off - as if the alarm was tripped!

After recovering from my heart attack, I pushed the unlock button on my remote to make the Fit be quiet. "Shut up Fit!"

So the weird thing is, I have a base fit. My car does not have an alarm installed, only keyless entry.

Any one else (sport or base) with a similar experience?
What the heck happened??
Is the car discovering its consciousness??

It's going to eat you while you sleep.

The keyless entry can honk the horn but it normally doesn't happen that way. If you press the lock button on the keyless entry two times, the second time it will honk the horn confirming that you've successfully locked the vehicle. If you don't hear the honk on the second press, then the car isn't locked. Note that you have to wait 1-2 seconds between presses.

I can't say that's your problem, I'm only confirming that the keyless entry can honk the horn.

The panic button on the keyless entry will honk the horn multiple times, any chance the panic button got pressed while the keys were in your pocket or hand?

Possibly there's a blown fuse, or worse yet, a short somewhere. I don't know what to tell you but to protect your backside

The OP has keyless entry which includes a panic button. It's on a separate fob.

Indeed, I do have a working panic button. I do not think that I pressed it though. The button is recessed and it has to be held down for it to activate.

Maybe I am paranoid, but I am more concerned about there being a short or blown fuse. Installing the keyless entry was easy, but the wiring under the dash is a tangled mess.

I guess I can double check the fuse and wiring, making sure the connections are tight.
