I dont know if this topic has been covered but I am just wondering what you guys/gals do when downshifting/braking/slowing down.

I shift to N when I see a red light up ahead, and brake about halfway through. If it turns green before i come to a complete stop then I'll try my best to revmatch to the appropriate gear. I usually get within 250rpm of where it needs to be, so I'm getting better with time.

i can't heel toe with the tiny fit pedals :P :P. i do the clutch drag thing if i NEED to stop quick. otherwise i coast and somewhat brake.

it's easier/cheaper to replace pads/rotors than clutch

for normal driving I just slap it Neutral and coast. When having fun I rev match. I can't heel-toe but I'm a size 10EEE. I have rediculously wide feet so I can use my right foot on the brake and throttle by just tlting it sideways. Works great in the fit since the pedals are close.

I don't own a Fit so i don't find it appropriate to vote in the poll, but i will say that i usually (99%) just clutch drag.

But then again i have been known to do WOT no-lift-shifts from time to time also....

most of the time WOT no clutch upshifts slow you down. It causes alot of lash in the drivetrain and makes your engine flop violently. stop doing it

Heel Toe

Heel toe is the shit! it definetly wastes more gas though matching RPMs and heel toe everywhere. but its hard not to

Is it possible to rev match a AT when using the paddles? lol
Or does it blip the throttle and rev match for you like the new GTR does lol? JK!

Oh, I understand. My PCM was flashed with a boost hold feature into the fuel mapping. Also have solid motor mounts and trans mounts with poly-bushings. Stage 3 twin-disk clutch.

Motor and trans don't flop, skip, or jump. Tires just give way to the torque.

BTW, No lift shifting is done with the accelerator staying stationary, not the clutch peddle. If I never lifted on the clutch i would definitely go slower.

sucks trying to heel/toe on a fit
wonder if anyone who has switched out the pedals to a different set has had any better luck with that setup

Im terrible at rev matching so i just play the "throw it in neutral" game most of the time. I have wide feet too so that doesnt help either.

i heel toe, especially when doing a canyon run.
rev matching i think helps alot...less jurking motion. i do it sometimes when im braking really hard.

yes.....

edit: i forgot to mention i do it everytime i down shift.

With the Mugen pedals, I can do the side foot technique pretty good haha...no need to heel toe!

I heel toe it... not perfect but getting better im usually within 250-300 revs... but the electronic throttle makes it a tad difficult... but i am learning!

no heel toe for me... i like to rev match sometimes but it wastes gas... rev matching is cool when you have an exhaust... unfortunately i dont have one yet and thats why i dont do it often...

It's not for sound, it's for stability into a corner and readily accessible power out of a corner.
