Fit buyers regret . . .

I actually like the base model and for the price its a modders dream. I almost wish i would have done it just to save a couple bucks. I could have put that money into rims and a kit instead of the car payment itself. I tried to talk my wife into a base but as soon as she saw them side by side i knew it was a lost cause and she wanted the cooler looking one. Some people are just that way. I still think the base is a perfectly fine car and if your that worried about it spend a couple hundred bucks on making it look more like you want it to. Thats my thoughts
Get your self this
Type-r Urethane Lip Kit! Front, Rear, And Sides! $365 Shipped
wheels and a drop and you'll be saying "sport who"?
This is coming from another base owner

i think of it as loving the curbs, not hitting the curbs. it's just saying "hi" LOL. MOST if not ALL scrapes aren't visible when looking at the car

All colors are hard to match for the Fit. Its due to our weird paint.
My grille, rear garnish, and wing dont match. In the sun they do, in fluorescent lighting it doesnt. It looks pale.
Wing and spoiler were painting professionally, rear garnish was done by me.
Its the only reason why I havent bought new fenders. I know the paint wont match.
Im scared to have my Jazz moldings painted.

i think for anyone that's not real happy with the factory bodykit (sport)
should get the base and go aftermarket.
coincidentally i liked the factory sport kit so i just got the sport...
also the mp3 player jack was cool, but that can be added later.
cruise... i dont use cruise...
wheels... already sold them.
foglamps...ok, thats kinda cool, but can be added later too.
so bascially i just bought the base with body kit and factory alarm.

I sit in traffic about an hour and a haf a day, and MT gets annoying a all hell. But once the roads open up, nothing beats it. My beetle is auto but that's a sound car, not a DD. I drove 2 AT fits and they made my festiva seem like a fast car.
Also a note on cruise control. With a low torque MT vehicle don't ever use it. you'll find you burn alot more fuel with cruise on

I don't have much experience driving a MT, plus the dealers around here had all AT's, so I went with it.
I love the Fit, but now it seems to make it look even better I'm gonna end up spending more money in the long run than I had if I could have gotten a bigger loan for the Sport.

It doesn't with the Fit. I also read in an edmunds long term blog they agree too. I think most people would say the MT in the fit is so forgiving and easy, that even in heavy traffic it's a breeze. I'm serious. This is the first stick car i've owned. I've driven stick before on other peoples cars, and it's annoying.

I guess I'm just gonna accept and love my stock Fit, and just keep reading/learning as much as I can about modding. Give me a reason to keep my Geo Prizm around. Use it to learn how to take off body panels, do extensive engine work etc. I mean, it's pretty messed up so maybe I can get it back to running on my own and learn some stuff too.

MT isn’t for most people. I actually traded away my old Sti because I was spending 2 hours a day in rush hour traffic shifting that thing. I also have to haul around my young kids now-a-days and its hard to reach back and pull them apart when they are duking it out when you have to shift. It was starting to seriously kill my knee. The only reason I will ever buy another MT will be for a garage weekend sports car.

I go out of town sometimes, so cruise control is a must for me. Plus, cruise helps if I'm not in the mood to drive fast and I just wanna cruise up the Dallas Tollway.
Plus, the Sport looks better than the Base IMO.
As for the main point to this topic, I wouldn't have minded trying to drive a manual, but an automatic is still more simple. I also deal with traffic quite a bit.

This is a funny story, but a younger female friend of mine who learned to drive in a Fit (that she ran out and bought against recommendations), she got a couple parking lot scrapes from a curb, a pole, a bush... well she was all upset each time until I said, "Yeah your car has a couple love bumps, try not to add any more but don't worry about them!" It was quite some time until she did that again, and she mentioned that she added to her collection without acting upset...
