Unhappy I hate washing my Fit!

Every time I wash it I find more scratches and rock chips.

Just found a deep scratch where my bumper applique is supposed to go, I've been careful because it's too cold to apply it (the instructions say must be above 60 degrees). Err!

I probably put a few scratches on it while washing it too. Damn this cheap paint!

I get it alot too man. sucks to see them when I've babied it for so long.
just make sure that you wash off the debris from the top of the car down. (lightest debris to heaviest)
and then wax and polish every short while.
sometimes it will fill it in the smallest scratches.

Haha. I got a big rock chip on my hood the first month I got the car. Someone took a chunk of paint off my trunk hatch. After that I said screw washing this myself. I let someone else wash it. I got a ton of chips now and hidden bug juices somewhere haha

Maybe I shouldn't wash my car anymore, I'll have a layer for dirt to protect the car from scratches and chips. Hmmm... Reminds me of my old car.

With my old car, I always tell people I sit on the inside, not the outside. So as long as the inside is clean it's all good.

HA! I've managed to not shop at Walmart for over 5 months. I'm so proud. Still have a lot of chips though, and I need both fogs and a windshield. AK FTL.

Yea those fogs suck! I broke my passenger side fog lights the first month. Second one broke not too long ago. Get some laminate on them! That will help prevent broken fogs. I spent one day washing the car myself normally...2 days at the local coin car wash and then left it to the people who washes cars all the time. Too many chips and scratches. Calls out for a new front end, but that's not anytime soon.

I've found trying to baby a daily driver is futile, accept the knicks, chips, scratches and just prevent rust from setting in :P

yah, i too found some chips and stains on my car too last weekend
when i was finally able to wash it on my driveway.

for bugs, i use this stuff called Wizard's BugRelease. after you
wet down the car, spray on... while the stuff's working, go make
your bucket of car shampoo.

by the time you run a pass with your wash mitt, bugs easily wash off.

I'm also scared everytime I wash it I will find a new scratch or dent. I also find that no matter what you use to wash the car it swirls the clear after a while

I might try the meguires gold class wax soon to see if that helps at all.

this might go over everyone's head, but, NEVER touch your car. don't lean on your car when pumping gas. don't put your foot on the bumper to tie your shoe. don't brush up against your paint or put things on the top of the car.

and, about swirls. YOU make the swirls. if you don't want swirls, don't wash or wax your car in circular motions. FRONT TO BACK, FRONT TO BACK, FRONT TO BACK.

The recent 3k road trip took a heavy toll on the front lip, 'specially coming over the passes near Mt Lassen...that's entropy. It was kinda discouraging but the only alternative is to keep it garaged and covered constantly. Then what's the point?
