k so i was driving today.
i hear a nice thump on the roof of the car.
i saw a fresh bird crap on the side, so i was like okay thats easily washable.
get to my gf's house and take a second look. some crap pickup in front of me must of allowed a tar-like resiny substance to fly out. a nice tar crap on the top of my fit. getting it off left nothing but swirls and light scratches. then I look at the side of the car to see my barrage of swirls from a previously terrible wash. whos fault but mine? still..
thankfully this week is the first wash&wax since I got it.

fill in those light scratches. :33

Just remember that all cars have this now-a-days with the new kind of paint. The front of My IS350 after 2 years looks like crap.

My first car was an 89 mercury topaz. I started driving in like 1999, and I swore that the dirt held that car together. Every time I washed it.. the next day something would go. That was also a bad year for domestic paint jobs due to new epa standards or something. I was down to the primer on every topside surface.

Use a polishing compound. Be more careful not to ride anyone's back bumper. And start budgeting for a front end re-spray!

Even Maseratis get door dings and scratches!

I like washing my Fit. It reaffirms my love for this car.

That said, I am not happy with the quality of the paint and all the stone chips. First week I owned the car, I picked up two chips in the hood. The stealership put their logo on the back (lettered stickers) and I used Goo-gone and a thumbnail to get it off. Under one of the letters was a chip that I know I didn't put there.

Polishing compound? That's for heavy oxidation and/or swirl marks. In the hands of most people, that'll create more problems than it solves.

Yes i just bought my fit about 2 moths ago. I use to try and babby her. Than i moved from San Diego,CA to Pensacola FL. Than i drove to Tampa FL to visit friends and family. Than i went on one more road trip before i had to start work, i went to Oklahoma to see my friend that is in the airforce. So now i have 7,600 miles on the car and the hood and front buper looks like shit to me. Chips and scratches on it. But its my DD so i am giving it a good wash on Saturday and a wax. But no more road trips for a while for me.

Hey do you get that bugrelease from detailers paradise?

I got all my towels from there.

their monster fluffys are incredibly soft.

and they have a dual knap cloth that's very versatile.

and they have this weird starfish looking mit that's great for interior and out.

Their prices are high right now but they have amazing sales. You have to be patient!

Edit: I answered my own question. I'm guessing this is the bug release product you mentioned.

By the way this company used to have free shipping but you have to purchase a certain amount. It's been a while.

Well said bro, and tell your buddy not to lean on it either. Seriously, if you really try to park at the far end of the parking lot and walk it will help. Don't use a California car duster either, you're just rubbing dirt around on your paint. Try not to tailgate either, and keep a lot of wax on your car. Put several coats and wax often. I think a clean car with a waxy paint job goes a long way for looks and style and will help protect your paint.

agreed!

You should never touch your car pointlessly. I have 2 micro fiber mitts, use the 2 bucket method, have gritguards in the bottom of the buckets (probably STUPID!), have a collection of exquisitely soft microfiber towels that I keep impeccably clean and won't even wipe the car with a perfectly clean MF towel unless it's misted with distilled water AND STILL micrmarring, or tiny scratches happen. Don't wash for fun! If it's dirty then wash it. No half way (dusting). I love the door sills on the Fit especially in BBP. I actually pick my feet up so as not scratch them. Touch the exterior where the car was intended to be touched, the handles! No leaning, sitting or placing objects on the car. I went from an 87 Acura Integra which I loved but was, externally, a beater. These habits were hard to change. Almost all scratches are in some way or another caused by owner negligence.

Just found a deep scratch where my bumper applique is supposed to go, I've been careful because it's too cold to apply it (the instructions say must be above 60 degrees). Err!

I probably put a few scratches on it while washing it too. Damn this cheap paint!
well...cheap paint probably because the Fit is pretty cheap as well. Its under 20k.
