Dealer/Service/Warranty Question
I took the Fit in to have it checked out, it's been running a little rough lately, anyway, the service center charges me $100 to do a routine maintenance check along with checking out the problem, is that normal? Can they not just check the problem Im having and having the warranty cover it instead of charging me $100 to do routine stuff I dont need? I had my first oil change at 6500 now Im at about 1100, so maybe it is time for a routine check.
I just want to know that anytime I have a problem with the car and its covered under warranty(part+labor) that I wont have to shell out $100 for routine maintenance.
Also what if the longest you can wait until getting the extended warranty? 12months from purchase?

Routine maintenance is not a warranty item... it is a maintenance and you probably dont really need it. What most dealers do is quote you a $80 diagnostic fee, if the item is covered under warranty it is replaced free and no diagnostic fee is charged. If the item is not covered or the part was damaged due to hitting something or something of that sort it will not be covered and Diagnostic fee is charged..
