Automatic or Manual?

Please!
Please, for your own good, read the two hundred previous threads about the MT versus AT discussion. Do a search, and I promise you will find lots of good reasons to do this: buy the one that suits you.
They're both good. You can't go wrong.
Thankya, thankyaverrmuch. Good night, and good luck.

Here's one
Of course there are situations where either one is better than the other. There are also situations where a dump truck is better than a Fit. Likewise, a bicycle is better in some situations. Once again, OP, check up on this and get the one that suits your needs. Don't be swayed by our opinions, because YOU have to make the payments.

The taller 5th gear definitely makes the engine run at lower revs on highway based on posts here, about 1000rpm lower in the 70-80 mph range.

I'm sure you know the AT gets better highway MPG due to its taller fifth gear. And I believe that will result in longer engine life, due to a difference of 1,000 RPM at 80 MPH. So there's one.

Nice!
and I must admit, I saw one hauling around tons of dirt just the other day, and I said to myself "self I sure couldn't do that in my fit!"

only at first. when you driving sticks for a while, it becomes second nature and it's not a big deal.

haha i didnt know people from orange county said hella. i thought that was a nor cal thing.
i say get a manual if you are comfortable with it. automatics are cool but, paddle shifters or not, no automatic will ever compare to having complete control of your engine.
