Gas with 10% ethanol
I'm just curious as to how many people live in areas where the gasoline sold has 10% ethanol. Living in Dallas, we are required to have it.
Remember, this does not refer to E85, for those that might be confused. The pump would usually have a sticker or sign that says "Gas contains up to 10% ethanol".

Passage from a wikipedia article about ethanol blends:
"Most cars on the road today in the U.S. can run on blends of up to 10% ethanol, and motor vehicle manufacturers already produce vehicles designed to run on much higher ethanol blends. In 2007, Portland, Oregon, recently became the first city in the United States to require all gasoline sold within city limits to contain at least 10% ethanol.[47][48] As of January 2008, three states — Missouri, Minnesota, and Hawaii — require ethanol to be blended with gasoline motor fuel. Many cities are also required to use an ethanol blend due to non-attainment of federal air quality goals.[49]"

Here in Nebraska we are all about the ethanol.
I'm not sure if it is a law requiring it at all gas stations but i have yet to find one that does not offer it.
With the gas prices rising i go with the cheapest gas at a reputable gas station and it normally is the 10% ethanol blend and have never had a single problem and get great gas mileage.

I can tell every time I get Ethanol in my fuel...kills the fuel mileage. I find it hard to believe that it helps the environment to add 10% ethanol when it makes my mpg drop by more than 10%. I know we're stuck with it, but I think it's ridiculous. We're just trading one natural resource (oil) for another (corn). The 1995 Civic we traded in ran really bad on the ethanol blend, but I had no way to avoid it.

They do not have it (or at least identified it as such) in the Palm Beach area.
I did put a tank in in Ocala maybe 3 weeks ago and drove back using hyper-milling methods at 65 to 70. I think it was around 200 miles of 95% freeway. I could not tell if the 10% mix hurt the mpg I recorded of 44, as I did not have a record of that route under the same conditions.
I know for sure, using E85 (85% ethanol) your MPG will go way down. I think in theory the same is true of 10% mix.
The Fit owner manual is void of this fuel usage and I suspect it was not designed for it. Of course it may work, but it may not be wise to use it if you have an option or if Honda says it's OK to use.
