Unhappy RIP my poor baby!

I think my baby is dead. I will find out in the next few days.

I am ok. I went to the hospital and spent 5 hours in the damn ER. I ended up having nothing but a huge bruise on my thigh, a brush burn on my tummy, a bruised shoulder bone and alot of sore body parts. Nothing is broken or fractured. Just banged up and bruised. My face was pretty swollen too, due to the airbag hitting me in the face. I also lost some hearing in my left ear for a few hours.... but it's all better now.

The accident happened about 3:30pm. I was coming through the intersection and the young guy in the car that hit me was turning left (across my lane). The light was green and I was going through the intersection and he tried to beat me through the intersection. He said he never saw me coming, but yet when he tried to take the turn at about 50mph, he saw me and tried to swerve back. I tried to hit my breaks, but there was no way possible that I could get out of this one. I just said OH GOD and then I lost a few seconds between the time he was coming right for me and the time the airbag hit me in the head and I heard it pop. I remember hearing the sound of the cars crashing and the airbag popping, but I don't remember much more. I think I can see the crash... but when I try to, I start to panic and I stop.

So, the airbags come out, I inhale all that lovely dust from the airbags.... and I remember the first thing I think of is, "OMG! Where is the phone, I NEED to call my husband!" I tried to look for my phone... but the steering wheel was pushed back and I couldn't bend down to get it. I tried opening my door but it was locked and and I tried to open the lock, but it was stuck. I crawled over and got out of my passenger door. My keys were stuck in the ignition too. So I get out and the dude comes over and asks if I am ok. I was shaking so bad (I had run out of anxiety pills Sunday and my doctor was on vacation and didn't call them in. so I was so anxiety ridden!) I get out of my car and start babbling that I need to call my husband but I lost my phone. So he hands me his and says I can call him. I dial him and mumble bad accident, the road I am on and then I turn around... see my car and lose it!!!! I kept saying "MY CAR! MY CAR IS TOTALED!!" *babble babble babble* So he flew out of work and came to me.

Now, I just have to sit and wait for the insurance adjuster to call. I can get a rental car, but I have to pay 20% a day... so we have to ask the guy if the other drivers insurance will cover it. Which it should!

For now, I am just resting on my recliner and trying not to move too much. My whole left side of my body is hurting a lot. The doc at the hospital gave me a prescription for 800mg Motrin... but HELLO!?!? I'm allergic to it! A$$hat! So, I have to call my family doctor tomorrow and see if he will give me some tylenoyl with codine... but then I will be knocked out! hoofreakinray!!! ugh I'm looking forward to the next few days and the lovely amounts of pain I will be feeling. And then comes the fun task of figuring out what to do about a car. I am hoping they can fix my baby, because she is one of the first 1000 made for the US, so she's important to me. But at the same time, I wouldn't mind a new one! And YES! I will be getting another Fit no matter what! That car saved my life and even though it's a little car, it's a brick sh*t house! So, we will have to wait and see what's going on with that. I highly doubt they can save it though... my driver's side wheel was pushed into my driver side door.... not to mention the whole damn front end fell off! lmao!

Again, Thank God!!!!! I'm so glad I am alive.

If you have a weak stomach, I advise you not to look. There is a severely damaged fit down here.

*Wahhhhhhhh*

haha yeah, as soon as I saw it was killed and I knew for a fact I was ok, I told my hubby that I am getting another fit and nothing else! If I can get hit that hard and walk away with only some bumps and bruises, I AM SOLD FOREVER!!

that really sux.

ive never been hit... but from experience, ive made habit of never assuming anything in an intersection. i try to be overly observant at intersections because that's where daydreamers and people in a hurry usually show up.

As others have said, glad you are OK and cars can be replaced. Looks like the Fit died for a noble cause.

dam! im glad you are alright. and im even more glad to see you come back to own another fit.

i say buy back your fit, and part it out to the fellow fitfreakers.

im sure people would love to buy a couple of stuff from your car.

anywho, looks like the fit took a hit pretty well. doesnt look too bad, i mean considering he was going around 50 and we have a small car.

Glad to see that you are okay!

And thanks for posting those pics. I couldn't say how much of his car hit you, but at least the car did its job in protecting you. Let us know how everything else from here goes.

Damn, it's really hurt to see it that way...I know cuz I experienced once (my poor Civic 93...)

But like Skibum said, your Fit died for a noble cause.

I'm glad that you are OK. That's the most important thing.

Hope you recover soon ! (...and get another Fit, cuz it's so cool, isnt it ?)

Ack! Hartman Road at Pottsville Pike. I was just there yesterday.

Really sorry to hear about your accident.

I remember my 800 mg Ibuprofin day...I wrecked my motorcycle. Looking back, it wasn't that bad...hopefully you'll be feeling good in a couple days.

I remember my first accident: Rick's 1996 Pontiac Sunfire (R.I.P.)

I luckily walked away and can laugh about it really well now...but it was a crappy American car that got killed...not a sweet Fit.

I'm really glad to hear that you are relatively OK...it could have been a lot worse. Send that metal pile off to the scrapyard and get another one. It's amazing how well they hold up for their size.

Feel better!

I know just how you feel right now. You're going to be sore for at least 3 weeks. I'm surprised you're injury is worse than mine when my fit got totaled last month from being sandwhiched between a Nissan Altima and Toyota Camary. My lawyer told me if the damage is above 60% of the car's value, it should be considered totaled. Your airbags activated, so it gives more ground of it being totaled. To make a long story short, here are my pictures. Sorry if they're too big.

Front side damage.

Bumper is just about to fall out.

I know just how you feel. I just hope your injuries aren't serious when you go see the doctor. You might need a CT scan or X-Ray to see if any small bones broke. I was glad that they didn't find any broken ones when they checked me out. Also, be careful if any muscles are torn, doctor said they might regrow akwardly potentially causing tumors in the future months ahead. That's all the advice I can give you now. If your fit gets totaled and you get a new Fit, we should start a Re-Fit club. j/k

Dang sorry to hear about your wreck but as everyone else has posted its great that you walked away with nearly no damage to yourself. Just anouther example of how great Fits/Jazz's are and why everyone should drive a honda. Good luck with everything and hope it all works out for you in the end.

wow glad to hear your ok but it sucks for the FIT...seems to me that modern vehicles are more easily totaled than cars from say 10 years ago.

Now you can upgrade to a Civic!

It's part of the designs now, with the ACE frame, it absorbs the impact via crumple zones and transfers it around the cabin of the car. So generally you don't get hurt as much in basic accidents, the trade off is a car that gets damaged easier.
