A question because I am ignernt.

I finally got a fuel light on. On my subie it wouldn't come on until it was ON the red. This was slightly above it. I went to fill it up (for 27 dollars I might add) it said I put 8 gallons in it. It's only got an 8 gallon tank?! OR does the fuel light come on a couple gallons before your actually low?

Hopefully someone can answer what ever it is I am trying to ask!

Yeah, it always gives you a bit left over so you've got plenty of time to find a gas station. The most I ever put in at once was 9 gallons.

When the fuel light comes on I believe it has about 1.8 gallons left. This is one of the few disappointments I have with the car. The tank only holds 10.8 gallons.

the Fuel life light is kinda random. It'll come on 1 gallon before sometimes, other times it'll come on 3 gallons. I dont really trust in the light anymore and just go by the location of where the needle is.

Yes that sounds normal.
The Fit has a rather small fuel tank. It works out though, cause the car gets good MPG.
BTW, its "Ignorant"..*Dont want to sound like a smart ass, just thought id let you know for future refernce! *

I'm just taking a wild guess here, but I think the misspelling was intentional.

Also agreed- intentionally exaggerated misspelling for effect. It was what got our attention- good job.

YIKES
I guess we should respect the fuel light. I try to fill up before it comes on but occasionally I put if off too long.

It's actually something I'm interested in, how many miles I can go with the fuel light on until I run out. When I first got the car, I would almost panic if I couldn't find an open gas station even just 4 or 5 miles after the light came on. As I got to know the car better, I gradually pushed it to 10 miles, then 15 miles, then 20 miles etc...

So now I've gone 40, I may try pushing 45....

yeah it actually says in your manual the exact amount its supposed to have left when the light comes on, i hate getting that low, but usually i get 8.5/9 gallons to fill when it comes on
