The day after I turned 25, I called my insurance company to see if my rate would go down. The guy on the phone told me he hated getting these calls since sometimes it doesn't go down because of a variety of factors. Luckily for me, my insurance did go down!

You just gotta call your insurance company and see what happens.

I'm 19. No wrecks. No tickets. Good student discount. My 6month is $1710 with a $1000 deductable with allstate in Kansas.

I think I need a new provider. Anyone else in Kansas in my situation with much lower cost insurance?

insurance rates are subjective to your location, your age, your record, and other little attributes. In addition, if you have other policies under the same company, for example home insurance or other cars, the insurance rate is significantly cheaper. If you're young and under your parent's policy, it will be cheaper. So a 26 year old independent like myself with no other policy and living in LA with a clean record, still pays $800 for every 6 months. There's not much I can do about it. I've gotten quotes from other companies and progressive, my current insurance, was and is the cheapest. No use in crying over spilt milk.

Also cheaper isn't necessarily better. Just like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. Depending from company to company, some are extremely uptight about claims and try ways to nullify it. Others take extremely long to process a claim with limitless headaches. Just thought you should know before trying to save a few bucks here and there.

EXACTLY!
Living in metropolitan areas will kill you. Your age and very few years of driving experience as well. How much distance you commute to work/school, any prior tickets/wrecks, is the car garaged overnight, zip code specific crime/theft statistics,......
I live in East Bay of San Francisco, suburbia for you unfamiliar with the area. I am almost 37, my wife is 29, perfect driving records, less than 10 mile work commutes, quiet neighborhood, garages,.....
with AAA we pay $1600/year for a '07 Fit and '06 Civic EX with $150K/$300K coverage and $100 deductible.

Best advice I can give you is shop around! Contact everybody reputable!
Stay away from no name insurance companies!
Many are not "state bonded" with address in Caymans or similar! You are "covered" only until you are paying and accident at your fault occurs, then they disappear living you with a very thick end of the stick!
You are stuck paying for everything as if you were never insured!
Sure you can take your "insurance" to court, but since they are outside US jurisdiction you are SOL! In the mean time the guy you hit will have his insurance company breathing down your neck!
It happened to a friend of mine long time ago who due to his bad record could not afford insurance with legit companies!

Again, shop around with everybody reputable. There will be significant differences between companies. Same as when you were shopping for a Fit to purchase! Negotiate! It is not etched in stone. Treat it just like any other purchase/investment - research!

On a side note somewhat related, negotiate your medical bills as well! Request "detailed billing statements"! If they give them to you in medical codes, ID them through Goggle and to make their life more miserable, request them again in plain English! You will be surprised with what you might find! They will backpedal and bills will keep shrinking by amazing rate!
Medical bills and/or medical services are negotiable as well! Even if you are insured and insurance pays up, they send you the balance of the bill! Contact your insurance and they will back you up. Many times they just try to see what they can get away with. By contract with your insurance, medical centers/doctors should not charge you anything above agreed amounts! You can ask for monthly payments instead of paying a lump sum!
For surgeries, check not just medical centers for insurance compatibility but also doctors, anesthesiologists,..... These individuals can bill you separately!
I am telling you all this for a reason. My best man is a programmer for a medical underwriter! I also know a guy who was billed for an epidural!

insurence

I have had 31 listed car accidents. Single, been arresed 5x's, and jailed and sealed 5x's, lost my license for 6 consecutive months, no children, never been married. Price a month, 145.00 or 870.00 for 6 months.

I live in a medium crime area, 23 year old male, no tickets or at faults in the past 12 (longer than that, but that's all they care about). After student discount and under 25 safe driver discount (had to fill out some log book thing) I pay about 108 a month. I need to take it easy on my speed though so I don't lose the safe driver discount.

Having both the Fit, an 07 Pilot, and our homeowners insurance with Nationwide, we pay 300/month for all, and thats 500 deductible and 50k/100k/300k coverage. Thats also with myself taking a safe driving course (saves a whole 70 for the year) and the fact my wife and I (me 37 her 39) both have clean driving records, and have been with the same place for 10 years now.
