What was Honda thinking ....the name Fit?
#61
I started wondering why Honda had to change the fine name Jazz to Fit? Perhaps this has come up before and the answer is clear. If so I'd like to here the WHY.
So I started looking
Fit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Than guessing it was an acronym, tried a few
Fun International Transportation
or Fun Intellectual Transportation
how about
Frequently In Third (place)
What's your guess

The name "Ford Ka" is like a joke where I live.
"Ka" is the dialect word for "what". And since the car look very strange the name goes with the car; each time you see it you go "Ford what??" (and in my dialect "Ford Ka?")
It is not easy to find a car name that goes well in all countries around the world.

[What dialect would that be? I know that Norwegian for "what" is "hva", but I'm wondering where that "k" came from. Or is it more of a "kva", because that would make more sense to me.]

I am glad it's a Fit and not a Jazz - the Jazz sounds so faggy. Fit is just a word, and even if I have to say it twice so people understand, it has fewer associations than "Jazz." No car name should end with 2 zz's. Think of it "Buzz," "Fuzz," "Azz," etc. Just doesn't work.

This is true. It's no wonder many car manufacturers go with the alphanumeric model names.
