should i wait for 09 or get a deal on 08??
i'm torn between the models. i really can't decide. the 08 fits are going under invoice right now while the 09 is suppose to be cheaper than the 08 (MSRP) at least.

I would have waited for the '09 had I known that they are addressing many of my major complaints. They will have a dead pedal, center armrest, passenger visor, more highway stability, and slightly more power. If they add an optional sunroof, I'll really be pissed.
We will correct all of Honda's "mistakes" on our car, but it will cost a lot more than just buying the '09.

I much do you like the look of the current design? If you really like the next gen look it will be worth the wait. You would probaly have to wait untill around october, but if you talk with a dealer you could probaly pre-order.

the new fit will probably end up being more expensive when it comes out. i find it hard to believe that with a new gen, they are going to make it cheaper then this one. i dunno. and it depends in how well you like them. dont buy anything you dont really want, you'll just regret it.

i'm okay with the exterior of both of the fit with a slight edge to the 09 fit.
i think i would go for the sunroof option but it's def not a requirement since i use it very little on the east coast
i dislike how the 09 seems to only offer a tire repair kit (rumored)
the extra 09 gas mileage would be nice but it's negligible
the biggest factor would be price. i was initially on the fit waiting list but took my deposit back when the dealer wanted 1k over MSRP. Right now i have an offer of invoice so it's very tempting to take it but on the other hand i'm thinking maybe i can squeeze the same deal on a 09?? wishful thinking??
also have to add that my current car is going down hill.. not fast, but it's about to hit the dreaded 90k mile mark where a lot of check ups are required. and waiting for a 09 fit would really require me to drag it out for the remainder of the year in my current car.

Mark up will probaly be avoidable with this new model. There will be more here in the US, unlike when the current gen hit, it was straight from Japan so we were not being allocated with that many and they were in high demand. Once dealers have them sitting on lots, mark ups will drop(at most dealers). Also, dont expect more then a 1000$ jump in MSRP. If you you look at the trend of Honda with new model mark up, you will also see it wont be more then 1k$.

The price for the 2008's shouldn't do anything but continue to go down as time passes. When the 09's come out, dealers will likely further discount the 08's to move them off the lot. Unless your current car starts causing you problems, I say wait until the fall. As soon as the 09's arrive at dealers, go drive both an '08 and '09 and see what kind of deals you can get. If you go while the stock of 08's is still high, the dealer can likely find an 08 like you want it (color, options, etc), but don't put it off because as time goes by the selection of 08's will dwindle.
