Weapon R header adds 2 mpg

My first fill up since the Weapon R street header was installed. This header gives you a lot more torque down low so you don't have to press on the accelerator as hard. I get normally 33mpg tops 34 this time 36. I do a mixture of highway and city driving in Hawaii so the A/C is on all the time.

I'm not sure it works that way, 08FitSport - let's wait for a couple more fills to go by.

If that were the case larger, more powerful engines would consume less than smaller less powerful engines, and we know that isn't possible.

But I understand the logic - expels fumes faster, therefore becomes more efficient, therefore less petrol is needed.

With intake, weapon*r street headers and an axle-back I get any where from 30-34mpg 90% city. I drive the crap out of my car too, it's rare that I don't wind out 1st and 2nd and I'll usually cruise around in 3rd or 4th.

You can't boast an increase in MPG after only one tank of fuel. There are too many variables that are a factor in determining what MPG you are going to get for each tank of fuel. That includes where you get your gas.

Yeah, I agree with all of the above comments. But, from my side I always try to drive as smooth and gas conscience as possible and it seemed promising so I posted it. WR say they're applying for CARB. Gas in Hawaii 3.58 for regular. I'll keep you posted on next couple fills.

I just installed the Weapon R Street header and I will let you guys know what I got for MPG's after a few tanks. I do about 60/40 highway/town and also have a axleback and SRI so we will see... I really like it though, the only install problem was that the bracket holding one side of the header did not line up so we deleted it.. No big deal

I've been running WR headers for 2-3 months now, and no muffler, but didn't particulalry notice any improvement in mileage.

Power has improved though, and I've dropped 0-100kph by around 2 seconds (with handheld stopwatch, so not reliable) - was 12.x, now it's 10 and a half. Not bad.

I'm still curious about the logic:

if traveling at 80 with stock exhaust manifold took x amount of power (fuel), would traveling at the same speed with headers not require less?

Maybe true for you at a constant speed. But, for me in the city touch and go requires a lot less touch or less throttle to get up to speed. I don't have to down shift as much to accelerate in slow traffic also. The design of a 421 header is to scavenge pulse energy from the tied in cylinder thus creating better torque and low rpm efficiency.

i agree. there are way too many variables that have a way greater effect on fuel economy and several controlled tests that are needed in order to make such a claim.

Exactly!
There is to many variables. You can not judge off one tank, when consistantly get better MPG after about 3-5 tanks, then post back up!

If you are referring to the engine bracket fitment, then no, I just installed mine and had to leave the bracket off. The header rattles ever so slightly in reverse, but so far that's all. I will be taking it to a muffler shop to have a custom bracket made and installed for more stability.

Is it really worth the difference in price? I mean I got mine for 195 shipped and I can surely notice improvements!
