Thought I'd chime in with my first tank results. Commute conditions are about 75% freeway, but it's a fairly long grade to my office that requires 4th to stay steady. Commute time to office is 15 minutes. Very little other driving on this tank. Also, to stay up with traffic typically 70-80 mph.
The light went on at 280 miles, and I filled at the same pump that I'd topped the car off when I bought it. 8.6 gallons, so about 32.5 mpg.
I'm not one to baby the car while breaking it in, so would throw in some spirited driving on the streets, but overall took it easy. Was hoping it might be a bit higher, but certainly not bad for a first tank. Once I'm over 600 miles, will start trying to nurse it and see what I can get.

That's consistantly similar to what I get as far as mpg goes. The light usually goes on for me at 275-290. I've had 2 tanks that lasted me slightly over 300, but I have no idea how I pulled that off. In Hawaii, state law mandates 10% ethanol in our gas, so I'm never going to see 40 mpg.

You're getting close to what I average with an AT. Not bad. I had hoped it would be better.
However, my 07 Fit now only has about 5400 miles on it. Haven't changed the oil yet, but will in a few weeks. The engine is still breaking in.
When I had an Insight back in 02, it took about 6000 miles to break in, then I started seeing an improvement in economy.

yup, that's mine in the avatar at Willow Springs in the Omega. It's a blast, but day in day out too much to deal with. So the Fit is the DD, and the Lotus is the track car. I took it out over the weekend for the first time since buying the Honda....I forgot how much fun mid 4's to 60 is
And cruising on the freeway, it gets about 30 mpg, 26 mixed. Not bad for a little racecar with a license.
