is this a good idea?

i live in new jersey.

my sister lives in new jersey, too... but she has a house in massachusetts, near the NH border.

if i hitch a ride with her to mass, and then drive an hour into new hampshire, i could buy a fit with no sales tax.

in new jersey there's a 7% sales tax.

obviously if i have any problems with the car, it's gonna suck to get it back to the dealer.... but other than that, are there any other reasons why i shouldn't do this??

It doesnt quite work like that. U have to pay tax of the state it is registered in. You can only get by the Tax if u register the car in new hampshire.

yep, if you register it at an address in new hampshire, it would work. i had a motorcycle imported from italy that wasnt legal in california so i had to have it registered in colorado and i had to pay colorado sales tax.

Bunch of people tried this when we were younger, you always have to pay the taxes when you to AAA or wherever to get your tags.

I bet when you register the Fit in NJ they will assess you the 'sales tax'. in order to get your plate.. And title.
