Oil Temp would be nice since it usually lags behind coolant temp by quite a bit. But that appears to be another thing the ECU does not monitor.

Oil temps are usually 30-50 degrees higher than the coolant temps. As the oil get hotter it thickens. Thats why racing, hot running engine could benefit from synthetic oils. The new oils are very good and have some synthetic oils in them.

My bad, I should have clarified.. I meant during warm up rather than steady-state driving. My experience in vehicles that monitor oil temp is that from a cold start, the oil can take 5-10 min longer to reach normal than the coolant.

No worries,I wish they did monitor the oil temps. It would be great to see whats going on with a very important part of the motor operations.

ECU monitoring oil temp is vehicle specific. With the Fit it is not reported. In my history of motoring I've been more concerned with oil pressure. Coolant temp tells the story.

ya but it would be nice to monitor the oil temp, and compare regular oil to synthetic oils. The water temp is based on the thermostat so it should always read 190-195. 170-180 on GD3 thats what my car ran. Oil pressure is based on revs and varies for rpm and oil type. I believe its 10 pounds plus 10 pounds to every 1000 rpms,so 5000 rpms would be 60 psi but that might of changed from when I learned that.

What am I doing wrong on calibrating the Scangauge 2. I resetted after filling up and when I came back this week to fill up my gas, it said that my fillup was 71gallons?!

I reseted the unit to factory defaults.
* Set Tank Size to 10
* Set Engine Size to 1.5
* Set Speed adjust to +1
* Set Fuel Type to Gas

What am I doing wrong? I'm averaging about 36mpgs but I know I can do much better!

That's normal after resetting. First fillup after resetting, don't adjust it. Second fillup, make corrections.

By the way, you probably want to change the tank size to 12 gallons. I have been able to put almost 13 gallons in my tank before.

Thanks! Ill reset my fuel today by topping it off and go from there.

Thought there was a trick on the fit. Ive had the scangauge for more than 4 years and it has already paid itself off with clearing check engine lights and diagnosing troubles.

Where are you guys mounting your ScanGuage in the Fit? Any photos posted here or links?
I'm Fit searching and shopping now so will definitely be moving my SG from my old car to the new Fit. Looks like most logical place would be lower dash to left of steering column on fuse panel door? For a base Fit that is, probably the Sport uses those buttons so where to mount on a Sport?

Iave mine mounted on the top of the steering column... The only problem is that I can't see the turn signal lights during the day when they are blinking and end up driving with them on for miles after a lane change... I can install a peizo buzzer so I could hear it I guess or set up an appointment to get new hearing aids.

Also on top of the steering column. There's plenty of room to tuck the cable behind it too.

Has anyone have a code c1555, My wifes car did and it would not clear so I disconnected it and waiting for the check engine lite to come on. Did some research and this is what I found. It seems its a catch all code. Scangauge read CEL (MIL) Code C1555 - Page 2 - CleanMPG Forums

On other forums people said dealers wont honor the warranty because of the scan gauge. They say it does more that read and could write code even though you are not trying. That doesn't make sense but would like to hear what you think?

Can't speak for the code, but my dealer has never had a problem with the SG. When I go for an inspection they disconnect it and reconnect it for me no questions asked.

Are you sure it's not P1555? There's a code list at https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...odes-list.html.

Anyway, the SG cannot void your warranty unless the dealer proves that it caused the failure. This goes for almost anything you can do to a car. Check out the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act for more info.

Mine too. They even bought one for a customer who thought his Odyssey had a OBC. The code would not clear so I have to reset the SG and same with the car ecu.

Its just weird, no CEL on and the gauges work fine. I didn't think it wrote just erases codes which all OBD2 scanners do.

Yep - I know that one, the dreaded O2 sensor code - LEAN Bank2 S1.

Maybe it relates to those low fuel trims? I struggled with my Cadillac on that one. I've no idea how the Fit responds to a code reset, on the Cadillac you can read and clear codes on the digital dash if you know the button sequence. Anyway, clear codes and see if it reappears. Were you accelerating a cold engine under load. That tends to find weak spots in the O2's.

I just looked up p1555 and it could be possible it a throttle/brake issue. So my wife drives fast and brakes hard and hitting the gas faster than the brake released. Thats how my wife sometimes drive. But the code is c1555.
