Nippon over Deutchland any day for me! (And I'm mostly German)
I love how passionate you guys are - what a great forum fight - isn't this why we're really on this thing to begin with? If we all agreed, wouldn't life be so boring?
Bingo!

Not yet, but when I move to AZ I will be

but another thing makes me even more ill."tuners" that pay someone else to turn wrenches. So when you kick someone's butt with your car, do you give credit to your mechanic or to your vast insight into what to throw money at? hmm, a whole new thread "Wrench it yourself vs pay someone else?"
Yep, if you aren't willing to bust a knuckle, leave it stock...

yeah... Autos are complete crap that's why the SLR the SL65 and pretty much every other BENZ in the world comes with them and manual isn't even an option. Oh and let's not forget THEY INVENTED THE FRIGGIN CAR. For anybody who is interested this is a very cool article about how different the AT in Hondas is different from other cars...

That's probably true. For all of us.

I'm gettin' sick of the Oregon weather, maybe Flagstaff or Prescott in a few years. Southern Utah or Colorado are options too. Anywhere where there is more SUN!

Now back to the regularly scheduled MT vs AT quibble

Yeah, move somewhere more sunny - it's so worth it. We moved from Vancouver, WA to Florida 4 years ago - love it here! 'Got the slider open right now.

My two cents on the AT. Have you all ever driven a 3-speed on the column? That's what I learned to drive on. A 1960 (or '62) Opal. It was already a 10 year old car then, but for years after I was in VW's - old Vw's - all MT's, and after 17 years of stick driving, I was ready for the AT. My husband prefers the MT also, so actually I get the best of both worlds. There's a time for everything. Why drink beer when I can have rum?
