Roof Luggage Case / Storage Rack

Does anyone have a picture of their Fit with one of those roof storage systems - or info about them?

I've searched the forums - but only saw pictures of racks (not the storage bin things)

I want to make a long trip this Summer - with a car full of people, and need to figure out a storage option. A trailer could be an option too - I haven't seen any pictures of that either...

Nobody?!?!?! (Wow - maybe there isn't a way to add a luggage rack or small trailer?)

I dont have pictures, but I'm positive that it's doable. Your local sporting goods store probably won't have pictures, but they should sell what you need. The stuff isn't cheap though.

I just went camping overnight but you still need all the same stuff with 4 people and all our stuff. It was doable but I'm looking for a rack too. I'm about ready to leave a note on the windshield of one that has a rack that I see in the same parking lot all the time. Someone told me the hitch racks are cheaper though.

I'll take pictures of mine in the morning while it's still on. (Just got back from camping) I have a beast of one from Sears that I use to use on the Jeep. I may eventually change it out for a sleeker one, but this one works for me for now and the mileage wasn't too bad...ended up being like city driving instead of highway and I drove fairly aggressive (well, as aggresive as you can in this car with a giant box on top and loaded down with camping gear)

Here are some pix of my cargo box on the Fit...

Nice thing is if we have a week long stay some place, it's easy to take off and leave at camp so we don't have drive around with it on.

I think it looks cute with its box on it. I have a cargo bag that I bought to use on my Subaru. Easy to stow when we get to camp and it compresses to hold fewer items. Only thing I never liked about the bag is its not waterproof.

that's why I avoided the bag all together, I didn't want to get some where and have everything wet. I can see that it wins in compressing down for few items and stowing, but typically if we have to put the cargo box on, we need all its space

Not that I'm too concerned about aesthetics I was a little worried that the large cargo box would be rediculously oversized on the car, but it Fits well.

I just pack the Girl Scout way. Drop everything in garbage bags then I don't have to worry about rain. then if anything gets wet while we're camping i have the bags to put the wet stuff in for the trip home.

No the traditional style...

I went this way and purchased one of their soft bags that are waterproof that sets down inside the MOAB, which is a metal cage. That way I had other options than just a big plastic box.

They are very fragile and can break very easily when loaded with heavy stuff. Watch out in the cold as well. Fairly brittle.

The MOAB also comes with an extra set of bars to put on top of the cage when you need the room to carry more shituff.

shituff. I like that word. fits well. The cage on the roof rack I like too but does it totally kill the gas milage and does it overweight the roof? I've always had the dealer installed come with the car roof racks. not great but enough. the cages on the Thules have always intrigued me though.
