Another new Sport Metallic Silver Owner
Hello all,
New to the board, having just purchased a 5 speed '08 sport metallic silver over the weekend. My daily driver has been my Elise, which while an incredibly fun car, not so much fun dealing with cold, bumps, errands etc. I've been in the Lotus for a year and finally broke down and bought something more practical. Traded in my old pickup that never saw use (gave up motorcycles a few years ago...too many injuries).
So keeping the Lotus for the track, and now have a car that I can actually see out the window and hear the stereo. I'm an avid cyclist and can squeeze my bike in both wheels on with the seat split, so very happy about that. My son will be at driving age in a couple of years, so this will realistically become his car. Though not many sticks out there, still think drivers should learn how and once broken in will teach my 17 y/o daughter too. She's in a DSG rabbit so hoping I can get her to use her left foot without any incidents
Ordered from HandA accessories the cargo cover, bumper protector, touch up, filters etc and saved some decent $'s over the local dealer. Wish they had a good ipod interface, but the mp3 jack is o.k. for now.
From looking at the age poll, I'm on the old fart side of the demograph but look forward to learning all the tricks for getting this thing dialed in.

Thanks,
While I'll probably leave the motor alone on the Fit, it would be nice to tighten up the handling. This car is plush compared to the Elise (mine is lowered with track shox), so a bit more stiffening up would still be like driving a Cadillac. I pushed it through a few turns last night, and it definitely loaded up and let loose..a bit more damping and stiffening would work wonders

motoring thrills. it's not a race car like your elise, but it's a very tossable
fun street car.

Even the S2000 didn't come close (imho) to the fun of the Lotus on a track. it was a more civilized car, but without a lot of $'s didn't think it would be too effective on the tracks.
If you haven't had the chance to take a fun car out on a track, give it a serious effort. A lot of rental car co's have some decent cars for a day of "testing" I did this with a rental Elise, and that's what sold me.

ahhh, just setting you up to give yourself the reason why you
should keep your elise.
case closed.

The FIT does seem pretty fun on the street, but the thrill on the track is another world. I prefer poking around on the streets and getting out the aggressions where it's safe and designed for it. I see some have taken the FIT on a track, but even my Lotus feels like a dog out on Willow Springs or Button Willow chasing vettes vipers and the like, so doubt I'd take the little Honda out.
