Fit vs Child Seat

First off, I love my Fit. Best car I've ever owned.

The only problem I'm having? When I bought my car ('06), I never, in my wildest imagination did I think I'd ever have a child. Cut to the following January, I get pregnant. Surprise, surpise! So now I have a four and a half month old daughter. Yay me.

Only problem? The rear-facing carseat only fits in the car behind the passenger seat with the seat pulled all the way forward, and sitting completely upright. If I were, say, short, this wouldn't be a problem. But seeing as how I'm 5'8" (hubby is 6'), it makes for uncomfortable riding.

So that's my only complaint. It won't be so bad when we can turn the carseat around, but that's not for another 7.5 months. *sigh*

Would reclining the rear seats make much of a difference? Is there perhaps a different model seat that you can find that might be a bit smaller?

What my sister and her hubby do in their Civic is she rides in back with the kiddo and he drives or they switch, but the front passenger seat is only good for gnomes.

That actually seems like a really good idea. That way nobody has to turn around and lean back should there be a baby-related issue.

Hmmmmmm..... Fit VS Child Seat.......Hmmmmm....
my money is on the Fit...hahaaaaa
seriously though the Fit is like 2,500lbs
child seat...meh...maybe 50lbs if you throw the kid in too.

Anywho...I though that the Fit was designed to do what you mentioned.
I am surprised and . Could it have something to do with the type of child seat you have? Or are they pretty standardized?
