Honda Fit Gear Ratios Chart

I'm guessing that this to avoid having to shift down more at cruising speeds, (when going up a steep hill, etc), to give sportier acceleration, or both.....

I wish 4th and 5th were farther. Or add a 6th gear. It revs at 4000RPM when 80 mph!!! That's insane.

ITS ESPECIALLY INSANE WHEN YOU HAVE THE SKUNK2 60mm EXHAUST AND DC Sports ported and polished header with a T1R straight pipe! I got a ticket on the turnpike for noise violation! The state trooper(ohio) seriously screamed at me and said i shook the inside of his car! He was pissed and i almost crapped my pants the way he was gettin all loud and upset at me. I just said sorry and sat there like a deer in headlights But if the car didnt rev so high at 75mph then i wouldnt be worried about that anymore!

Honda can't seem to make up it's mind. I have an old (but new looking) Honda Supersport that has a 6th gear. Reading literature from the period, some people complained that 6th was an overdrive and they wanted it close to 5th. Well I like the overdrive because it makes it nice on the interstate or any other time at speed. But some used the bike for cafe racing so I can see their point too.
With the fit it is nice because you don't hear the engine at speed and better for mileage. But if I wanted the fit for racing or city only I would probably want the manual. I guess we get a choice so win for everyone.

RPM' compared to 2000 Miata
Last night I checked my Miata to see what RPM's its running and I found at 80 MPH it was turning 4200. 60 MPH is was a little over 3000. It is not busy at 80 so maybe the Honda Fit Manual, while only a single overhead, is fine cruising at 75-80 for the Miata is.
When the first Miata came out it weight was around 2300# and hp was 116, not a lot of difference from the Fit.
