HELP! on rear strut bar

I recently recieved my Tanabe front/rear strut bars. In the process of trying to take the nut off for the rear strut bar and I accidently stripped out part of the allen wrench hole. Now I can't get the allen wrench in the hole very far. Any advice on what to do

wrap a rubber radiator hose (or similar) over the threads and use
channel locks (large pliers) to hold the shaft while you turn the nut.

make absolutely sure you DO NOT damage the thread cause it will
make it a huge pita to remove it next time.x

no i didnt do that, i know that its metric. i thought i had it in the hole all the way but it was only half way in, so now the top half of the hole is stripped out and i cant get it in all the way in to the bottom.

The rear bar was much easier for me to remove than the front , because you didnt have to stick your hands up in the wheelwell and not see them

so the worst two days of my life are over i got the stupid thing on! i had to hammer the allen wrench in and grind down a wrench to fit in between the support for the bar, but i did take the washer off because it doesnt show it in the instructions and the bars feet are almost the same size as the washer. o well i guess, but thanks for all the help you guys gave me. this is almost as a bad as when i hit that chunk of something in the road!
