Radio Display Too Bright?

Anyone else having the problem of the radio display being too bright at night?

Is there any way you can switch the colors so you don't have the blue background and just a black one with blue numbers?

Bugs the crap out me...well sometimes

You probably already know that you can dim them from the instrument panel.
But personally I dont find it proportional to one another, dim the instruments down to nothing then the radio seems about right. I figure I will just use a static piece or plastic (similar to a tint) to put over it if it continues to be a prob.

Hi TOOL,
I just tried a few searches and didnt have a ton of luck so dont hate me for responding to this.

Doesn't the brightness control knob also adjust the illumination of the radio system?

yeah I already searched but didn't find an answer. The search function isn't that great..

I already dimmed the instrument panel all the way but it's still a little bright. Is it even possible to change the blue background?

Yes, there is no way to just turn the radio illumiation down, right when you turn your headlights on it auto dims.

Yes the search works ok, it just takes some time getting used to. Im going to search the topic now and see what i find.

thanks for all your help but I already lowered the dimness all the way.

I was wondering if you could change the blue background on the radio display to have a no color background. Is it even possible? I couldn't find it in the manual or through searching here.

I think the bright radio is kind of cool. I would have liked there to be lowercase letters in the digital though..

AH.... THAT's it. I searched quite a bit for "instrument lights".... being as how they illuminate the instruments. I never thought of searching for "dash lights"....
It seems that only NA Fit cars have the dimming feature. My Asian Fit doesn't turn the instrument lights on unless the headlights (or park lights) are turned on. Once the instrument lights are on, there seems no way to dim them (the knob in the instrument cluster referred to in other posts just spins and spins, with no effect).

Bummer... would love to be able to dim them

I know what you mean. The leds are way too bright. Bright LED Shades makes an adhesive plastic that covers over the led to cut way down on the glare. And it pulls off without any sticky residue. Just a thought.

Most monochrome LCD displays can be inverted by flipping their polarizer filter over. (This is a grayish plastic sheet thingy somewhere on top of the glass LCD unit itself, probably under the outer protective plastic surface. The Fit's radio apparently also has a color filter somewhere in the unit.) Disassembling the radio's front panel sufficiently to be able to do this would probably be pretty involved.
