looks like it's going to get pretty windy and t-stormy this weekend...
dang it, i was hoping to paint seal both my FitS's this weekend.

oh well.

worst thing to do is wax a car in the wind. wind = dust particles in the air + wax pad + towel = SWIRLS!

guess i'll go hunt for some wheels...

So I touched up the area that was missing paint from the accident tonight (before the rain comes in).

I stepped back maybe 7-8ft and I can't tell I touched it up. So, I think the repair is finally complete.

Lots of rain over the weekend. Got a nice wash. Hahahaha

Didn't do much with the car, but took the family to the mall.

Pulled out my G on Sat early morning and used Griot's SprayOn CarWash after the drive.

all you guys out there working in public places, make sure you keep hand sanitizers handy and use often. try not to breath.

had a great drive this am to work. not too much traffic and it
just felt real smooth. part of it is because i wasnt feeling
so tired this morning... fatigue affects my smooth shifts.

another nice day to drive this am. traffic wasn't too heavy and nice open distance between cars.

so i was talking to my wife last night asking how she likes her (my) car, the 09 FitS. she says it's great, very cute and kind of a fun atmosphere to be in. she loves Coach handbags and likes to dress up for work since she travels often to downtown area for biz so i asked her maybe she should be in a IS350 or something nicer.

she said 'no.' she liked the fact that the Fit's are fun to look at, nice to be in, comfy, yet inexpensive enough that it can be a little painful, but disposable car if something happened to it. that's wat dd's are all about.

yah, i know. i haven't been able to wash my dd's for like 3wks now. just rainstorm 'natural' wash only

i think im going to work on that fender a tad more to get the slight dent left in the lip. it will take a long time to fix it, but it's been kinda bugging me lately...

worked on the FitS's fender atad more to push out the bend. fenders at the decorative lines are nearly impossible to fix so just did my best. have several high spots but now if i do get it professionally repainted, all i need is just a quick sand job and paint so no more than maybe $300 tops.

my FitSW got a quick treatment of Griot's SprayOn CarWash on sat. looks good (acceptable standards for a dd). also dressed the tires and cleaned the wheels. was too lazy to pull out the hose. hahaha

i guess it rained pretty hard last night cause my car was literally clean from all the pollen that got on it while parked at work.

after my morning drive in my MINI (which got hit by a huge rock dented the bonnet...)
i dusted the interior of my FitS with my usual california interior duster. worked great.
still need to clean the inside glass, but decided to work on PDR'ing the dent on my
hobby car.

luckily the dent was accessible so about 15min or so i got the dent out completely.
a little scratch left but with some polish and wax i was able to minimize. cleaned its CAI foam filter and now drying in the garage. cleaned the engine area as well.

im a tad hesitant to open the FitS's hood... haven't cleaned it since last Fall before the salty winter. hahaha. shall find out how ugly in a few days when i do the oil change.

How do you clean the engine bay?

unless it's really dirty i use QD and lots of paper towels to rid all the
dust. for real oily areas i use my degreaser (50/50 simplegreen to water)
spray solution and an old rag. for water stains i use white vinegar 50/50
with water and let it soak for a good 2-3min. just keep spraying at it
every now and then so it does not all evaporate. i make sure not to
get any of the electronic parts wet.

after everything is cleaned, i treat all the plastics and rubber parts
using PrimaNero.

for metals that needs polishing, i use WENOL. i got a tube of Griot's
Metal Polish so im going to try that this year.

like a toilet, it's easy to clean if you keep it pretty clean on a weekly
basis, but usually we tend to conveniently forget.

hahahaha. yah, i guess in the past some people used pressure washer in there, but these days with our cars being more and more dependent on sensors and other
electronics, best to keep all wiring and connectors dry as much as possible.

some pro detailers will cover up the electronics with bags, etc. and do a through
clean down with detergents and water but it is quite a bit of work.

hey TOOL! yah, haven't seen a lot of your posts lately. how you doing? busy with school?

i think the next step for my FitS might be to paint that
gunmetal rota's to black gloss. i just can't get past that
brown colored spokes. car looks ok on cloudy days...
only when the sun comes out that greenish ikky brown
just ruins the grayscale look of my car.
