I'm more intrigued by the Fiat 124 than the ND Miata to be honest.

i can see myself in a mx5 a lot more than a ctr..

but then i will have to drive my sti in the worst of weather like a sitting duck so will need to consider that too.

There's been rumors of an AWD CTR. Not sure if it will happen, but it would be a fun daily. I'd be curious to see what happens when the boost gets cranked on that one. Could be a lot of fun.

At that point, I wouldn't even apologize for the body work.

Ash whats the thing on your windshield frame above the rear view mirror?

Mike- look forward to the update on suspension. Looking very nice. Glad you've been able to drive it more lately.

Dont the ND and Fiat 124 share the same chassis?

GAFIT I did see that rumor about the AWD CTR...With such positive reviews about the FWD and no under/oversteer...what gains would there be with AWD? For poor weather conditions?
Hondata and Ktuner have done some tune's for the CTR and I've seen 375hp and 400ft/lbs.

Won't be for awhile, winter project for both cars is to put together the parts to have each in tip-top shape before next shop. I want to go back to school in fall of 2019, so I need each car completely mechanically sorted beforehand.

AP1 will need bushings, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, brakes, various engine seals, timing chain tensioner and a couple other things. I'll be going with offset bushings for the upper control arm that bring the top of the wheel in by 7mm, between that and slightly more camber (2.7 degrees rather than 2.4 degrees in front), I'll fit the CP035 similarly to the Advans and have a bunch of clearance for the RG3.

Fit doesn't need anywhere near as much haha

Yep, 124 is an ND with the neat little 1.4 Multi-Air FCA engine.

Ash - Looks nice!

Part of the CTR's abilities are a bit of smoke in mirrors kind of stuff. The ECU greatly limits power based on steering angle. It simply cuts substantial power to keep it in control when coming out of turns. With AWD, they could let it EAT!

Don't get me wrong...it probably has as much or more grip than any FWD on the planet. I owned a specV so I know what a proper helical LSD can do in a FWD car and it can do a whole lot. But, in order to do what the CTR does, it relies on the ECU to work some magic.

That being said, I'm not positive that I would opt for AWD if available. It would add weight and complexity that would mostly be useful in inclement weather. For most use, the well sorted FWD would likely be fine and keep it more lively/light.

What I really greatly prefer is RWD. There's just so few choices in RWD that have performance with a decent price tag. Mustang and Camaro come closest to what I like, but their back seats are minuscule. Would like more room for the growing kiddo.

im reading a lot of GTI/R folks burning through their MT clutch early on. i wonder if its because the obc tells the driver to shift up real early during normal driving. like the car can drive up a hill in 6th gear going like 40mph. that is like insane low rpm for old skool drivers like me where id be in 4th or even 3rd gear momentarily going up the same hill.

the novice MT drivers dont know better and follow the obc, then punch the gas in the higher gears through traffic.. dere goes da clutch. im pretty sure datz wats going on. i drive my cars pretty hard and i dont anticipate my R will be needing a clutch replaced while under my ownership. higher rpm is ur friend.

the only RWD id consider is the M2 or M3, but as noted earlier, the hours i usually pull out my cars is too early and road surfaces are too cold. no grip. no fun. AWD is king.

at least on the mx5 its rwd but no crazy power. id consider the ND more like a fun little commuter car than a weekend car. something dat'd replace a scooter or bicycle or something..

Got my Mobil1 Rebate for the (2) Gallon jugs of synthetic and (2) extended filters. Was super quick since they do a digital check.

I bought my mobil 1 at walmart, and despite walmart not being on the "list" of vendors, I got the rebate approval anyways. =)

haha i think i’m going to get my wife a nice coach bag to celebrate. i’m not sure yet i want the ND. sucks dat id have to drive my STI to work in the winter and parking it out doors in the winter too.. something i should consider when i’m done with the STI, i thinks.

plus my cars are all paid for.. not sure i want to cash out yet for a dd.. not like my GTI is sucking by any means..

How about a WRX in manual?

You'd then have the baby brother to the STI instead of the baby brother to the R.

Year round AWD traction and more comfy than the STI.
