Thanks GAFIT, I really like them too. Simple and clean. Only bummer is the weight is the same as my OEM more or less.

I did find some Aodhan LS-07 in Gunmetal which is more or less the same but at 23lb vs 26lbs for 18x8 or 28lbs for 18x9.5. OEMs are 28lbs. I mean I dont plan to race the thing...its mainly for looks, but weight savings would be nice.

Just dont think the gunmetal is as nice as the anthracite.

Thoughts on the poke of the 9.5 +40?

Unless you're going really low, tire stretch (even a baby bit) is going to look awkward, in my opinion.

shinjari- that’s a lot of poke on that top pict you posted.

unless you plan to lower the ride i’d go no more than 10mm on the offset. maybe 15mm on the rears. another route is to go wider wheels by 0.5” and keep the same offset but chances are unless custom, they won’t offer those options

those wheels on the benz kinda look like the BBS CIR’s i’m planning to get for my R later this yr for winter set. the bbs is not light either unfortunately.. but for winter i’m okay. not going that fast anyway in cold temps due to limited tire grip.

BENZ and Audi have same Niche Misano M116 wheels. Seems like sticking to a 18x8 +40mm instead of the 18x9.5 +40mm is the way to go. No stretch or Poke. Only want to lower 1" tops.

Yup, look just like the BBS CI-Rs...just the BBS are twice as much and don't come in 18's.

I found some KMC wheels in the same design but in matte black...Just not sure KMCs are meant for imports even though the bolt pattern and offset work. Used to seeing KMCs on trucks/jeeps/SUVs...not cars lol.

I don't like Tire Rack for wheels. They don't carry any Mike410b-spec wheels.

Mike410b....find me same style as those Titan-7 Split5/Niche Misano M116/Etc, in anthracite....18x8 +35 or 18x8.5 in a quality brand...<28lbs...for less than $300/wheel....GO!

lol I've got nothing unfortunately. Gram 57FXX are $440ish/wheel & similar.

Enkei TS10 are 18x8 +40 and handsome, but not the same style.

Enkei Draco 18x8 +45 for $180/wheel

Enkei M52 18x8 +40 for $188/wheel

Sparco Podio $176/ea

Monte MT9 $148/ea

Tire Rack seems to have a lot of wheels that could suit the style you're looking at.

Yeah I've seen the

Enkei M52
Enkei YS5
Monte MT6
Sport Edition A15
TSW Geneva
TSW Chrono
ESR RF2
AodHan LS-07
KMC Wishbone
Titan-7 Split 5
WedSport SA55
BBS CI-R
FK Wheels RK57
Niche Misano
Niche Targa

etc etc etc lol.

Kinda like the Konig Dekagrams flow formed....18x8.5 +35 ~19lbs! Just only come in matte black. =/

Another day done. I should look for STI wheels/take offs. same 5x114.3 pattern.

So Kenchan....if you could only have ONE of your cars...which would it be? The R? Sti? or Gti (doubt its'll be this one but never know).

I'm betting that he'd want his GD back for that JDM lifestyle yo! LOL

Speaking of which...scored a set of real JDM tail lights for our GD. Woohoo!

yah, i really like my factory enkei's on my STI. it's 18x8.5 ET55.. so it will actually fit your car real nicely even in stock height just as long as it doesnt scrape your strut or shocks. cant remember wat the center bore size was..

i also have Prodrive GT1 18x8.5 ET53 (20.55lbs) as my winter set also in the dark gunmetal/anthrasite/graphite color.. i like them too, but prefer the factory wheel the most.

as for the one car question, id keep my R. no doubt in my mind it is a better car than the STI, but the STI is raw and fun to drive. but then again, ive had fun to drive cars for years so these days i prefer a more compliant riding car, nice interior, awesome stereo, etc. i luv hatchbacks and to me the R is perfect. awd, tons of power, MT, comical good looks. i really want to get another one for my commute with DSG.

GD was cool. i liked that car. i also really liked my '12 MT GE A LOT.. wish it just had more power and LSD. the GK.. wish it was assembled better and no silly warranty problems one after the other.

hey congrats on the JDM tails!

you know its sad. did you know at one point tirerack actually sold TE37's and other rays and gramlites? its the cheezearse garbage going with fake wheels that killed the sales and TR dropped them. i could actually buy Work and Advan wheels from my guy at TR too back then.

i dont even look at JDM wheels for my R or GTI. euro cars should be running euro wheels. OZ and BBS are my choice.

Yeah I agree about the GE....

Probably my only complaint....and maybe the lack of independent rear suspension left some comfort to be desired.

The couple of times I've been in the R I'd have to say I was very impressed. I mean even the GTI is a very well made car. I just have a mental stigma about VW being 1) a pain in the rear to work on (special tools etc) and 2) not JDM reliable. Suppose the reliability can relate to all german cars. HOWEVER...if you can afford to buy one...you should be able to afford to fix it as well. =)

If I was spending 35+ though...I'd be hard pressed between the CTR and Golf-R. Golf-R just more versatile for daily stuff, but the CTR is just such an impressive looking/performing vehicle.

I do recall the times when TR carried Gramlights/Rays. Wanted some Gramlights for my S14 SO bad lol.
