alright pulling out the STI for some motoring fun this am. im real happy that i was able to find and fix the minor rattle on the STI and R. not that it was a huge issue, but i much prefer a rattle free cabin.
yesterday pm i looked under the side skirts on the R to see how id mount the side diffusers. unlike the GTI's side skirts it's more of a simple aero piece like the ones honda uses with plenty of clearance to the sheet metal, so it'll be a quick VHB and a couple of short tapping screws per side. i usually dont run side diffusers but after taking a couple of snaps of my R yesterday, i got to see the car in 3rd person view. clearly needs side diffusers to flow the black line at the bottom of the body work.. the CF splitter and the aggressive-ish black factory rear valance are asking for them to 'connect' the line.
hope to have the pieces in my hands next week to finally 'finish' phase1 of the car by mid-august.

kinda chuckled when the rental car place gave me a new beetle vert to use for the day.
not a bad car, it drives sort of like my GTI but without the power or DSG or handling.
the regular AT is a mess though. it shifts kinda rough and throttle response is questionable at low speeds. Steering feels good, excellent driving position, and stereo sounds decent but not anywhere close to the Fender stereo on my Autobahn trim or Golf R.
i think the non vert one with the larger sport wheels and MT could make it a fun car to own.

Link to Neuspeeds?
Yep, Shinjari & I have actually had conversations about the two cars. Honda seems to have finally started making proper enthusiast's cars again. He wants a hatchback & fun driving experience, I want MPG, fun driving experience, well bolstered heated seats & Android Auto...Honda makes both & both are very, very good values.

Yeah sport trim hatch for funcitonality/cargo space, HP and MPG (over the Fit). I'm jealous about the SI with the android auto (can add I guess), LSD, seats and sunroof.
Lol that sounds like a "cute" car they lent you, and yeah traditional Autos are so rough...my Miata is terrible. The turbo sounds like a good time though if its similar to the GTI.

oh yah definitely a cute looking car dat beetle. lol my wife was jelly when i sent her a pict of the rental.
no the power was not comparable to my GTI. i was like where's the torque??
yah the shape i can probably get use to. it looks better than the current MINI.
but mang that trunk is tiny!

alright returned the beetle and drove the GK back home.
GK felt cheap compared to the beetle, but then it literally is so oh well. LOL
now i want to test drive a normal Golf in MT to see how it drives.. just for fun. im thinking it will be a nicer ride than the GK.

wtf, store now shows a ship date of september over a month late. lol so faked up.
told the store to just cancel the order.
im going to get a universal diffuser since the panel under the side skirt is basically flat when i checked earlier.. it will be very easy to mount a simple slab of ABS. might even put a layer of faux CF for some bling.

I had a Jetta while my Fit was sitting around for a new airbag. Was super nice, got 38 mpg, quiet, stable, etc. Do want.

k, so the store accepted my cancellation for the side diffusers and i ordered a universal one in the length that matches my R
i do have to paint it tough.. or apply CF wrap. will probably just paint it glossy black.

so i got a can of SEM primer on order, and 2 duplicolor universal gloss blacks. this is for the universal side skirt diffuser i need to sand, prime, and paint before install onto my R.
ive not tried single stage gloss black sprays from duplicolor so this will be a nice test. since its only a side skirt diffuser i only need to paint like 3.5" width x length of diffuser. the area that attaches to the car will be left matte black (unpainted).

yes, totally messed up my mpg cause i'm addicted to the power. lol.
not much change, it did lean it a tad but the car runs rich so no issue.
yah if i knew wat i know now about the Z i would've went with the s2kCR i was eyeing at the time.
