took a day off today. been traveling almost every week for the last month for biz so thought id take a day off to unwind.

waiting for the landrapers (land scapers) to do their thing so dat i can wash my GTI this afternoon. last thing i need is wash my ride, then have them blow dead grass clippings all over my car.

should be a nice weekend coming up.

oh yah, i should be gettting the cabin filter for the GK pretty soon. it's coming up 2yrs so decided to swap it out before pollen season.. which i believe started (per watery eyes in some locations..).

some yrs are worst than other, i hope we have a milder allergy season this spring. last year wasnt too bad.

Finally got around to washing my GTI this am.

Was cloudy and kinda humid so made for a quick wash...not rushed to wipe down panels as I usually do since black car is easy to water spot. I usually wash the top and a side of the car, wipe down before I start the other side

ordered tail tint for my STI. just the clear part (turn signal and backup light), want to tone it down just a hair. should be a super easy install as it's a flat surface. i remember doing the GE's tail lamps and dat was a biotch.

checked psi on the GK. da tpms came on again, my wife said. they were pretty much dead even 36psi all around when i checked this am. i think how the car is parked outside with one side completely facing the sun in the am, it is throwing off the psi as the tires on that side of the car will always have higher psi. i check psi before the sun hits the tires.

anyway, adjusted my GTI's psi too since i had the gauge out.

should be getting some factory coolant for my GTI today. i read about the factory not burping the system correctly resulting in lower coolant level in the reserve after a while.

i got exactly dat. i added 5oz of distilled water yesterday as it was under the min mark..will add 5oz straight coolant today and let the system mix on its own as it is the concentrated type.

This doesnt instill confidence in me wanting to smoke my tails lol. I've done plenty of flat surfaced taillights/headlights...the curve/bend on the GE's has me concerned. Guess I better buy a big sheet in order to have room to screw up lol.

Actually if u use a heat gun it wasn't too bad.
Also at the very end loosen the lamp from the car and tuck the ends of the film into da seam for a clean finish.

So vinyl > VHT Nightshade?

Thought VHT would be a easy option since its removable...but vinyl still seems like the safer option.

I'd do vinyl.

Or JDM tails. They're nifty.

The VHT I used a while back was not removable unless with metalizer thinner.

I think vinyl is easier and cleaner. Btw got the precut tint today for the STI's tail.

GTI's been doing a count down to do an oil change each time i start the car. like 30 days till oil change. 29 days till oil change.. 28 days till oil change..

i already have my liquimoly and filter so im ready to do it, but for those dat cant work on cars must be like getting nervous each time they start their cars.

I considered the JDM's, but with all the "red" in the JDM's they just get visually lost for me on a red car. There is no contrast or anything.

Yeah most of the precut videos I've seen have been for subarus lol. Should be cake.

Have had this item in my ebay cart for the last few days. a 16" x 72" sheet of light smoke.

Haha, I doubt they get nervous. People push things off for so long. But I could see a countdown-like timer being like a time-bomb so to speak...28 days until your engine falls outs....27 days....26 days...do the DAMN maintenance already!

installed the STI's tail tint on the clear lens portion. looks factory finish.. damn, it looks fantastic.

reminds of the time after doing my GE's tails. looks 100x better.

a buddy at work has a WRX so bought another pair to give to him. he's going to like it for sure.

oh yah, on the STI it's a flat piece so i ended up just using distilled water (so i dont get my finger prints on the adhesive side) squeegee, and a heat gun to wrap the corner over.

so the wife and i took out the GK for some errands today followed by a nice steak for lunch..

i look at the fuel gauge and noticed it only moved one indicator where as my GTI would've probably swallowed like 1/3 of premium fuel today. super efficient.
