Oh, G that G is FINE! mmmmmmmm.....you are a fortunate fellow indeed, having a Fit and a G....

Be sure to clay your Fit ASAP - you might find some tar underneath or in the wheel wells.

thanks, juliane!

good point, i might re-seal the paint on the bottom
half of the car since Griot's PaintSealant is so easy to use.

yah, but dont get me wrong. im just a midwest suburban
middle-class whitecollar folk with some consumer-level cars i
modded and calling them 'fun cars.'

there are rich folks (and wannabie rich folks) laughing at me
all the time for calling my cars as hobby cars. but hey, that's
ok cause im having fun in my garage. doesnt matter watcha
got, it's about how much you enjoy YOUR cars and your life
in general.

i luv my FitS mang... it's a great car.

Yeah, it's whatever we enjoy...as long as we can pay for it, right??

I'm pizzed off right now...went to the coin-op car wash and the stupid spray thing didn't even clean the dirt off the sides of my car...I have to wash it again here at home...and my silly dh changed the hoses but didn't put the hose on correctly at the bib so more water is going out at the top than is coming out the end...grrrrrr...my buckets are dirty on the inside...things are going all to pieces over here....sigh....

and my rear bumper has an abrasive scratch that I did NOT put there...

oh, well, the sun is shining in spite of it all....

absolutely! makes no sense if one's getting chased by debt spoiling all
the fun. it's insane how some folks go outside their means just to show
off and ending up bankrupt. or those that live in crappy apartments but
yet drive around expensive leased BMW's. that's just poor planning, in
my books. i dont see the purpose.

hang in there! ive had my bad-carwash days... those coin-op's dont
work well without a washmitt and a bucket..and most places wont let
you use a bucket, right? i decided long time ago not to use coin-ops.

im not looking forward to winter cause all i use are touchless at the
local carwash. the folks there use kinda dirty towels to wipe down
the car. worst was when i stepped back into my FitS and the stereo
blasted almost at full volume. damn idiots. oh well...

im going to be claying and polishing the FitS next spring for sure.

i briefly matched up the ring to the steering column ignition ring to cover gap
and noticed that my light might be a tad (like 4mm) too short. lol

will see how it goes. as long as the light is pretty diffused i dont care. it's
more about function than anything.

no, i have not been able to install that LED key ring thingie yet.
and the weather looks kinda crappy for this weekend so not sure
when i will be able to install it. im not about to pull my hobby
cars out in the rain just to install a ring. lol

but in other news, temps are falling quite a bit now in IL...even
had frost this morning. so what do i use to wash my cars when
it's this cold you ask?

Griot's washmitt on a stick. hahahaa. seriously this thing rocks.
it's a single-sided MF washmitt velcro wrapped around a mopstick
base. you will still want to use your wash bucket to make sure you
wash out the grit before your app... here's how:

use the Griot's (or any) soap dispenser hose nozzle to apply the
shampoo onto the car. then with the mopstick tool, work the
shampoo around to loosen the grit one panel at a time. dip the
mopstick mitt into your wash bucket to rinse out the grit after
each panel. repeat.

keeps your hands warm and dry.

btw, word of caution when you wash the mop-head mitt after use.

wash it by hand, or wash it in a separate wash (or in those zip wash bags)
because the velcro's hooks will (yes, it WILL) get caught up in your MF towels
if you put it in the same cycle.

i learned the hard way... it reminded me of those monkeys picking at each
other pulling out bugs from their partner's fur. it was a rediculous event
pulling MANY velcro hooks out of my MF towels.

so, becareful when you wash it.

hahaha, you can have our cold weather, TOOL.

or we should just add your weather and our weather and
divide it in half for a nice cool 50F all year long.

people were asking about tire brands so here's a quick summary.
you can find this info at wiki and elsewhere:

a. Falken is owned by Sumitomo (my pos ziex912's made in thailand
on FitS). Falken was a brand by Ohtsu Tire&Rubber Company and
merged with Sumi in 2003. it's possible that Falken became garbagy
(or regular folky) after the merger. i'll have to try their higher-
end tires to see if it's close to the Dunlops.

b. Sumitomo makes tires in Japan for Dunlop (my SportMaxx on
my cooper-s ). i have to say the best Dunlop tires ive tried were
all made in Japan by Sumi.

c. Goodyear owns Dunlop. Sumitomo does all the "Made in Japan"
high-end tires for Dunlop. Dunlop is a UK company. The Dunlop
sporting goods (like golf clubs, tennis rackets) are spin-offs of the
Dunlop co.

d. Nitto tires is owned by Toyo...and a fairly a new company. not
much info other than that their NT510's sucked arse on my prelude
back in the days. hahahaha! never again.

e. Yokohama Tire is a joint venture between Yokohama cable and
BF Goodrich. They make my preferred sedan/wagon regular tires the
Avid's. talking of Goodrich, it's owned by Michelin.

f. Michelin is French...they invented the radial tires for cars.
as far as annual sales, they are #2 behind Bridgestone. Goodyear
is #3. they make the Pilot and they grip like hell.

g. Bridgestone is a reverse translation of Mr.Ishibashi, the founder...
ishi = stone; bashi = bridge. He thought it was funny. he bought
his inspiration Firestone back in the late 1980's. Bridgestone is the
manufacturer of my favorite street tire, the RE050A PolePositions
on my G35C. very snappy handling. (but i hear the sumi HTZIII's
are a better overall performer . i must try that and the Dunlop
StarSpec's). Bridgestone also owns part of Nokian tires of Finland.
yes, the same Nokia as the mobile phone maker.

h. Pirelli is from italy...and also the inventor of the "wide" radial tires.
thanks to them, we have low-profile wide radial tires. I had their
P6FourSeaons tires long time ago.. they were pretty good for a/s tires.

g. Continental is german... and #4 largest tire manufacturer. but
they're also big as automotive supplier...they do a lot of things other
than tires. never personally bought their tires, but ive driven on them.
i didn't find them remarkable, but probably fine for sedans.

The tire industry is pretty interesting how it came about if you asked
me. im not very familiar with the korean tire manufactures like Kumho
and Hankook, the Taiwanese Federal or Nankang tires, and the other
smaller tire co's.

If you're interested in finding out more about tire manuf's, here's a
good place to start: List of tire companies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

so i tried my LED ring on the steering column tonight and found that
it's too huge to fit inside the column cover, so i took off one of
the 2 LED's and just taped it near the vicinity of the opening.

it illuminates the bottom half around the ignition module so it'll work
for now. when i get a hold of the LED ring i'll just swap it out.

very easy to do. i just tapped the wires per this thread.

so i was driving to work this morning and there was a 09 FitS in
white driving near by.

i have to say, the new FitS's look frikken awesome. even in
stock form it looks pretty damn good. sure i like mine, dont get
me wrong, but the new one looks so much more sophisticated.

it's definitely the best looking new box out on the market today...
beats old/new xB's, beats the R56 MINI's, beats MazdaSpeed3's,
beats GTI's/R32's, beats the other asian boxes that i dont know
the names of.. hahaa as far as appearance in stock form.

no, it will never come close to my R53 MINI's appearance as
far as great looks and performance.
