i managed to one-step sealant the 12's roof and hood. all i need to do now is swap floor mats and make the hardfelt cover for the hump next to gas pedal area and im all set for winter.

Thanks! Roof rack would make my hunt for 50 MPG even tougher, I can't say I'd turn down another head unit though. I'm really not a fan of the OE stereo in the GE's, it is the one thing that I just can't stomach leaving stock for an extended period of time.

yah, check out Waiz's latest pioneer HU setup. it's very nice and he put the gps antenna where the stock one is (compartment above the glove box). id do that if im redoing my '12 system.
i figured out the 09's problem. it was a partially severed wireharness for the water temp sensor. both wires were bare and i bet water droplets were shorting it out during rain. not sure how it got that way, but i cleaned the wires, soldered them back together and cable wrapped them. should be good to go.

im glad i figured out the problem on my 09. and im glad it wasnt a honda reliability issue...rather just a rodent or driving over something problem.
i wont be buying the impreza this year, but maybe next year. my wife was interested in the GK though.... will see how honda improves on the '15 i guess. personally i much rather have the new fit than the subaru... might have to change the thread title to GD to GE to GK.. lol

I hope she likes grabbing her own gears because out of the 5 CVT GK5s I've driven at work, 2 of which have had some really odd acceleration characteristics during Pre-Delivery Inspection. One would lurch/judder on take off from a stop when cold started and the other one did the same but while slowly accelerating at low in town speeds (30 to 40 MPH).
I forget the build date was on those two but hopefully this has been resolved with the models that are being built currently. Mind you, I'm not bashing the GK5 but that did grab my attention right away along with the poor fitment/quality for the flaps that transition from the cargo area to the rear seat backs.

so still have a few more weeks to go, i thinks. it only takes me less than an hour to bring the snows out of storage and swap, so not a big deal for me.. but just tiring. all that work for... stock look.

Put some snows on Ms. 410b's car earlier this week, I'm excited to give them a test.

after doing the swap, im going to check pressure on my '12 as well including the spare tires. dont forget the spare! (i use 35psi on snows with anticipation of 20F drop or 33psi, 60psi on donut).

swapped the 09's tires to snows over the weekend. took more more time to clean the factory wheels than swapping the wheels.
ive not made a wheel dolly for the stack (the dolly i made a yr or so ago is being used by another set in my storage) so placed the factory wheels on a piece of round cardboard. at least i can slide the stack around a little bit in the garage...

been retorquing the lugs on the 09's snows the last few days. a few were still backing out at even 90ft/lbs just a hair. will do it once more tonight.
im really liking this colder weather. my '12 feels good.
