cool, my gallon of Griot's SpeedShine and Spray On Car Wash arrived.
one of the few essentials i use in my detailing arsenal.

i use to have a lot of detailing products from many different brands when i started out, but 10yrs later, with proper car care and techniques i learned, i am able to maintain my cars with very limited number of products.

and two of them are even off-the-shelf products from meguiar's.

drove through some heavy rain at times on the way back from work tonight in my '12.

sorry to say to the other drivers, but i enjoyed the drive home. hahaha. the car just handles everyday crap like a champ.

Did the wash and one-step sealant on my '12 today. car looks brand new again.

first, i washed the car as usual. then Griot's Paint Prep to remove all sealant that was on the panels. basically i just wet down the panel with my hose, spray a good amount of PaintPrep, and gently massage the solution with my wet MF towel, hose rinse.

i make sure there is no beading or water sheeting off to ensure no wax/sealants remain...and my finger should squeak when i rub the paint.

then proceeded with the sealant application.

here's PaintPrep. it's a great product. wat's under the sealant will determine how long your sealant will last.

So for this winter I decided to give my factory all season mats I bought for my '12 last fall to my '09 and get the aeries (sp?) set for my '12.

the coverage is so much better than the factory. I don't want the surrounding carpet all white from road salt from my boots. should have the new mats by end of the week.

cool, looks like my vendor shipped the Aries mat. should have it soon.

so this weekend, if time permits, im going to do the one-step sealant on my 09 GE. while the car looks fairly clean, thing is dirty as hell. really need to clean the engine bay too. it is discusting in there.

it's quite a contrast from my other cars which are spotless.

looks like my a/s mats arrived. will try a test fit later on tonight.

if things look good, then i will donate my '12's a/s factory mats to my '09.

here it is.

the fitment is basically perfect.

i still need to make the protective wall on the gas pedal side where my foot
can touch the carpet, but it will be much easier to make vs the factory
rubber mats.

i will be making the protective wall out of black hard felt again later on.
overall im real happy i got this aries set.

Indeed!

That raised part on the right side (driver's side mat) would cover up the hole in my carpeting perfectly

hahahaha.

for me though, i wished that the right side wall closest to the gas pedal went up another 3-4" below the dash, but oh well. i will make that felt cover again this yr.

thanks, yah, it does cover the deadpedal. for me i wanted that coverage because i dont want salt stains on the deadpedal and around the base of the dead pedal come Spring time when i go back to my carpet mats.

i only got the fronts. i will use the new-ish factory a/s rear mats.

the new-ish factory a/s front mats will be donated to my '09 since it's all worn out now from 5yrs use. the rears on the 09 is still decent.

when daytime high is below 60F im going to swap my summer wheel set (with RE760) to winter wheel set (with DWS) on my '12. for the 09, will wait until i see snow in the forecast before swapping to the snow set. hope not too soon...

drove through some flash flooded area yesterday in my '12. one street i couldn't tell how deep it was so i decided to make a u-turn, only to find my only way out was also flooded.

good thing though, had a g37coupe driving in front of me to use as a gauge. hahaha. if he didnt hydrolock im sure as hell my fit wouldn't either cause the intake is pretty high up in the engine bay.

came home no issue. car did great. cleaned it up this morning using SprayOn CarWash as it was still wet from some rain in the morning. will be taking it out again this pm for a few errands.

not exciting at all, but i aired up my spares on my cars last night to 65psi in prep for the next 2 seasons.

correct pressure is 60psi, but i add a little extra as it was 60F last night and our area gets down to about 10F in the winter time average. we see -5F on the coldest days.

1psi change per 10F ambient temp change. if i need to use the donut sooner, i would let some air out before use.

looks like i need to swap out my wiper inserts. been using it since Spring so i guess it's time. i usually swap the fronts out every 6-7 months and the rear once a year.

will do both my '12 and '09 tonight if i have time.

friday night i swapped out the wiper refills on both my '12 and '09. also put some rain-x on the glass. rain-x applied with a paper towel can usually remove water stains, oil stains, and all sorts of crap that baked onto the glass.

looks like temp is dropping pretty sharply this coming weekend. so tonight im going to move my winter set with DWS from storage to the garage. will let them sit there overnight before adding some air so that it matches ambient temps better.

will swap them out before the weekend.
