I say take your wife to Acura, let her sit in one, drive one, she will be saying yeah right to all the other cars you are considering lol

 

yah, i think the TSX with a slight lowering and 18's could look killer.

but...she wants a wagon. gaawd dang it.


she's trying the 'wedge' pointing upwards behind her back as final trial
to see if it does anything. from the driving she did today, she texted
me that it was better than placing it under her butt as it's original
design.

hopefully it works out for her. i read the legacy forums and most of
them say that the seatbottom doesnt tilt back enough causing the
driver to support their weight and work the pedals at the same time
resulting in lower back pain.

yah, the issue with those SUV's is that my kids are small so they
have a hard time climing into taller cars. im not sure why folks with
small kids even buy SUV's...they are so inconvenient imho in realworld
use.

now the FitS (even the legacy), the sills are low my 3yr old can
climb in/out no issue.

 

It's time to replace my Mom's car and I can't come up with anything better than an '09 FitS. She's in her late 50's, but is a car person and prefers manual. Only real thing the car has to do is get her to work, be somewhat efficient, and be able to haul her, my Dad, and two dogs.

The tsx is a GREAT car, but it's also $10,000 more than a Fit. That would buy a used sports car if she wants to go fast. Her recent previous cars have been 5.0 Mustangs or full size trucks, but she enjoyed driving our Fit. That says a LOT about the Fit. The CRV would be a possibility if it wasn't so uncool.

 

GAFIT- i think the FitS is a nice car guy/gals' dd. it's got everything you'd
want for transporting stuff and it's actually fun to drive, fun to own,
looks good, and pretty much carefree. i luv my 08 sport.


the thing about the TSX is (was) i wanted a car that i can call a family
car that has pretty much all the convenience features on it. everything
from nav to BT leather, wood trims, sunroof, etc. something kinda nice,
but not too expensive that my wife can scratch, yet me not cry over.
my G35C nor Cooper-S has all the electronics mumbojumbo on it cause
they are for motoring. wanted a car with that mumbojumbo. lol

but if the wife wants something more cost effective, there's nothing
wrong with that. if she can live with my legacy that's even better
considering all the scratches she and the f-king subaru dealer already
put on it. was even thinking about installing a remote-start on it
and hardwire a FM modulator so she can hook up a MP3 player for
longer trips.

will see how it goes...

 

I completely understand. The Fit is not a nice car. It's fun, practical, efficient, etc. but, not a luxury car at all.

For the past two years my Mom has been driving my old family/luxury car. A 1998 Olds Aurora. I know what you're thinking...grandpa car. But, you'd be surprised how nice it is. Very high quality leather, superb v8 with plenty of power, and very comfortable. I bought it, put a stereo in it, and used it as a comfortable DD for a few years. It's been a great car, but has 160,000 miles on it now and is ready to be replaced.

It might be hard for my Mom to give up the luxury of 75mph in complete silence with enough power reserve to hit triple digit speeds within seconds. The tsx would definitely be an appropriate replacement, but I can't get over the extra money. It's too bad that I don't like the current Civic or Accord.

What about replacing your Subaru with another Subie. I test drove the WRX sedan and wagon and were very impressed with both. The seats were great. Hmmm...Maybe I need to have my Mom drive an Imprezza wagon?

 

nono, FitS is a nice car. i like it for wat it is. i enjoy driving it everyday
on surface roads. it just doesnt have anything related to luxury and
i like that honesty in the car.

no more subies for me. i made the mistake of buying the legacywgn...
after i was done with my 02 WRX i called it quits for subi
due to all the little problems and annoyances it had, but at the time
my wife had a POS 04 corolla that she liked but i absolutely hated and
i was kinda despirate to get rid of the corolla...

luckily one day some lady backed into the corolla causing over $5K
in damages, wife shaken but not hurt, my kid was not riding at the time.
it was THE PERFECT ACCIDENT for me. the day it came out
of the bodyshop i hopped on over to subie and grabbed the legacywgn
because i wanted AWD, and a wagon...only to be reminded of the little
problems here and there and the annoyances. so no more subie's for me.
next AWD wgn i get is a new A4 wgn you saw on my earlier post.

those older GM cars are fine for older folks but each time i get a Buick
Lucern (sp?) at Hertz during my biz trip i get dizzy from the floaty
disconnected feel.

 

so the wife text'ed me today about the wedge in the upright position
on my legacy's driver seat. bascially she sandwiched it pointy side up
between the seatback and her lower back.

she said it worked! she drove 2hrs+ today and her lower back
is painfree.

 

haven't done too much this weekend as far as my FitS goes other than
cleaning it.

PrimaNero'ed the dash and door panels (matte finish), then
Prima Clarity'ed the inner glass and cluster gauge lens using the
glass MF towels.

i also QD'ed its butt since i had some grit from last week's storm, but
the car wasn't dirty enough to really wash it. it's going to rain tonight/
tomorrow anyway. as far as QD, i use Griot's SpeedShine in large
amounts to minimize swirls. in the sun, i use Prima Clarity since it
is polymer based and it can handle heat.

i used Slick to clean the wheels and dressed the tires. it almost looks
like it was just recenly washed.

in other news, i got some new adjustable endlinks for my G35C's
Stillen swaybars. the bar has a firm, mid, mild (3holes) on each end,
but with the adjustable endlinks, i can do intermediate settings for
a total of 5 settings. dialed her in and damn she can fly through
the turns about as fast as my cooper-s.

 

you may want to think twice if you're planning to order wiper blade inserts from collegehillshonda.

they bent all 3 of them into a small box. i complained, they said it's "okay
because the inserts are pliable. not to be bent in half"... even though the
factory packaging clearly states DO NOT BEND.

the inserts each have memory in them now because it's got several
ripples for where the 2 metal support thingies go in on each side. i
straighten them out in my trunk... hope the memory goes away.

when i buy inserts from other stores it usually comes in a long
cardboard sleeve. next time im buying from my local dealer for sure.

 

so while stopping at the gas station on the way home i see some guy
pulled over by a lady cop in the parking lot of the gas station. she
was standing outside so i took care not to rev the engine cause of
my Megan axleback. (noisy exhausts you get a fix-it ticket in IL).
i drove right past her.

then another male cop pulled into the station to assist the ladycop...
i was done pumping gas and drove right past him keeping the revs
as low as possible.

not that the megans are THAT noisy, it does have a deep aftermarket
universal junk muffler note.

im happy to report that the muffler did not alert either one of the
cops' attention. b

 

errrrrrr~!!! my neighborhood started replacing concrete driveways starting off my my neighbor's. my driveway is slighly pitted but not
too bad.

but the concrete dust is all over the place. my FitS is parked
outside and the glass almost looked white. NEVER QD this stuff off
cause it's a receipe for swirls even if you have the best QD and towels.


going to have to wait until the weekend to wash it all off. hopefully
they will be done by the week's end and move onto other projects.

mine will probably be replaced next season.

 

Just from a quick glance, I think you should re-title this "Kenchan's Blog." But it's great anyway, lots of good Fit info.

 

Im down to re-name it, if Ken wants me to of course.
"Kens Fit Blog" would be sweet. Nobody does anything like it on the site.
