The Next 50,000
So, this week brings the milestone of 50k!
The last time I had my car in for an oil change, they suggested front brakes. Me being my skeptical self, I decided to hold off. In the last few days, I have had a horrendous grinding noise from the front brakes. So much for my skeptical side...I dropped it off tonight.
That is the first thing I have had to do to the Fit. I have had brakes last longer on a couple of my Hondas, but this one does get driven pretty hard and a fair amount of stop and go. Also, I wonder how much the fact that the rear brakes are drums has to do with it. I am thinking that the fronts may take a little more of the wear, even more than a normal FWD 4 wheel disc brake car.
That being said, I am thrilled with my Fit. I figure the rate I am driving now will mean that the next 50k miles will come more quickly than the first 50k, which is hard to believe.
When you put together price, driving enjoyment, usefulness and fuel economy, the Fit becomes perhaps the best Honda I have ever owned. Considering this is about Honda number 8 and there was an S2000 in that list, that is saying something!

i had my POS integra for 2 years, I drove it for 10k over those 2 years and as much as I tried to convince myself that I was enjoying my overpriced suspension, I hated the apprehension deep down inside that my car would break down soon. Now with the fit, I've driven 2k miles in 2 months...

Hey man, I think you are one of the few people on this entire board that has more mileage on their new Fit than I do. I am sitting right now at 33k.
Anyone have more than I?

50k is quite good for brakes.
The thing I hate about brakes is that the prices shops charge to replace them varies so much, and is usually higher than it should be.
Like you, I tend to be skeptical when I'm told I need them. Got talked into replacing the calipers as well as pads and rotors on my wife's car recently anyway. Supposedly the pad on one side was much more worn than the other, suggesting that one caliper wasn't pulling its weight. Still not sure that was legit...

So my question still stands - who besides me and the OP has over 30k miles?

Wait, 100,000 miles between the 3 cars combined or 100,000 on each car?
