I agree the paint on this Honda Fit is the worst. I traded in my 1996 Ford Ranger XLT on the Fit and it was 11 years old. It had been in an F1 Tornado and the victim of a hit and run and had no swirl marks on the body except for the cosmetic damage above. My Fit is only 6 months old and I am starting to see cobweb type swirls. Now I have only used microfiber towels, the Absorber and Meguiar's products. I wash with some warm water in both buckets, use microfiber mits and I did make a decision that some of my microfibers I have been purchasing at Wal-Mart felt much more rougher than the ones I got at Auto Zone. So all those have been discarded and I just use the ones from Auto Zone I found out that Meguiar's has a new on line forum so I have joined that and they have alot of great information about removing those. They state you need to wash, clay, paint cleaner, polish and wax. Sounds like an all day job to me and then ScratchX can be used if you still have swirls. I just wish there was another way to keep our paint looking show room pretty when the car is not even one year old - I am worried what it will look like in 5 years if it is just now starting to get swirls. Can't see them at night or if its cloudy only in bright light. I keep my car in a garage at night and then I park in a parking garage during the day. The parking garage is right beside a 4 lane so even if my car is clean in the morning by the time I come out after working all day it is covered with dust and dirt. Has anyone tried going back to the dealership to address this issue and gotten any resolution? My oil is at 60% so I will be going in soon to get my first oil change and I wondered if it was worth bringing up this issue.

So if the paint is not so great, doesn't that suggest it isn't worth it to get the clearbra, etc? You might save your front end but the rest of it will need a paint job.
Normally you can't do better than the OEM baked-on paint finish but perhaps that's not the case here. So maybe it is worth letting it go, saving the money towards a repaint in the future?

a full repaint would be phenomenal, but i'm not shelling out the cash when honda should've made it more durable to begin with.

i had a little opps a couple weeks ago pulling into my friends drive way and hit the front valance on his driveway. it only took a small bit of paint off but i find it to be peeling up and to the sides of where i hit. Damn nc driveways!!! but yea i am with everyone with the not so great paint jobs even though it was all my fault the paint shouldnt be peeling off as bad as it is. The rest of the car isnt too bad. I did find a few spider webs on the hood but i should be able to polish them out and the valance i will just have repainted seeing its just a piece of plastic anyway. its gonna drive me nuts even though you have to get somewhat close to see how bad it is.

Kind of the main reason why I would like to get white. For most cars, white hides those annoying chips and scratches fairly well. My second color choice would be BOM and then maybe MR.
I saw a used 07 black Fit with 48,000km (30,000 miles) and there was probably a hundred or so little chips. But under the chips was the white primer.

i just recently waxed and washed my fit recently and i've noticed so many little rock chips on my lips it wasn't even funny. Kinda depresses me since i can't believe how much honda cheaped out on the paint on the fit. I guess its what you pay for, but honda could've had the option to actually have some kind of thicker clear coat to prevent this. Like its gonna cost them anymore than it is for freaking clear coat.
