Does anyone else think the stock MT shifter is sweet? It has a really good texture and the rubber wrinkle things look really sporty.

I didn't like it...
coming from an s2000 with a small ti shift knob
the fit shift knob felt like an 8 ball to me
i quickly changed it to the spoon shift knob and im much happier on the feel of shifting

I was ok with it... it felt good driving around, but I'm also used to Skunk2 shift knobs and S2000 shift knobs. I switched the OEM unit for a Skunk2 weighted one and it feels so much better.

The boot reminds me of early Porsche 911's.....I switched out my shift knob for a type R.....The shifter feel in this car is brilliant as is the interplay between clutch and shifter. I am able to match revs when downshifting like a champ. Honda always had the best shifters....

How different is the shift knob in the sport compared to the base? I heard it's different.

Having my slightly smaller, weighted one (454g, ~1lb) versus the OEM knob (I'd say ~3oz./85g) makes a huge difference to me. Although I did like how my small hand gripped the larger OEM knob with ease, but i grew tired of it quickly.

mt shift knob

The rubber on my shift knob produced a tear in it. In traffic I usually fiddle with it: squeezing & rotating rubber piece which slowly created a tear. Now I have a Skunk 2 knob which seems bulletproof.

I think everyone does. Edmunds long term always compliments it. C/D complimented the shifter. In their "cheap skates" comparo, the fit was the only shifter that doesn't feel cheap. It's smooth, light, the throw is good (edmunds compared the shifter of the versa and fit. They said the versa's throw was too big)

I changed the shifter into a red italian leather shift knob. I got sick of it and changed it back to the stock sport knob. The stock sport knob is one of teh best looking knobs [un]available. I wish they sold it, so civic owners can enjoy the well designed knob.

I like it a lot. I'm not a fan on metal shift knobs... they get too hot. The retro accordian-fold shift boot is cool too.
The shift mechanism itself is great too... probably the best FWD shifter I've ever driven.

Same, using the T1R titanium knob at the moment.

Yeah, me too. I changed mine in the dealer lot before I even drove away. Using the Project Mu knob I had in my xB before the Fit.

like many before me, I didnt like the stock shift knob. I took my Integra GSR shift knob. which is actually the RSX base model accessory knob. it looks like an ITR knob but all aluminum and black numbers/shift gate. i recently powder coated it gunmetal and used a fine tip sharpie to fill in the red.

oh yeah the stock knob feels like a freaking game console knob from the Logitech Steering wheel for Gran Turismo 4
