Fuel Theft on HONDA FIT!

Except that the OP was in the Philippines.

when you use those locking caps, make sure you dont accidentally
dangle your keychain into the side of your body panel.
probably best to keep that key separate and somewhere inside the car.

I got a quick-disconnect key-chain (with two rings separated with disconnect mechanism) that allows bringing just the gas key to the pump. The old lady likes it, as she listens to the stereo while I pump it. Yeah, we're a musical couple. You folks sure have a dirty mind. I was talking about pumping the gas. Easy, Easy.
The Honda Element locking gas cap works on the Fit ! Thanks to collegehillshonda for helping to make the world a better place and sharing that.

I have a locking gas lid on my car (Honda Jazz from 2007), so maybe it is possible to mount this kind of system on the Fit too? This is standard on all EUDM Jazz as far as I know.
See this pictures.
First picture of the lid and the cap.
Here you can see that little locking pin coming out when the doors on the car is locket. On the first picture you can see where this pin going into the lid.
Here is the same as above but now the doors is unlocked.
It is just a little electric thing sitting inside there

No Sheeyit
That's what I'm screamin. If the Fit's tank is full, it's only 10 1/2 gallons. Not much gas there, to risk going to jail for.
My bigger concern is not with fuel theft, but with some nutcase sabotaging the car because he's jealous over the fuel-efficiency thing, or just because he's an a$$hole. Teenagers with unchecked testosterone, trying to impress one another, maybe.
I just talked myself into it. I will be picking up a locking cap today.

Food For Thought
I agree with everyone here but just maybe some people are targeting the FIT because they know (thiefs);
They understand Honda's are one of the easiest cars to steal period.
Secondly most people would think "how much security and technology does a 16 thousand dollar econo box really have"?
Lastly people in todays society will steal from a old grandma walking down the road with her cane! So IMO thiefs will steal any amount.
If it is getting this bad now wait till gas prices rise to 4 dollars a gal!

I don't know if it is a flaw with the car.... usually a locking gas cap is an accessory.

I thought Dodge's were the easiest cars to steal. Apparently you can break into a Neon with a pen cap
I doubt anybody will go to jail for stealing gas, probably just a slap on the hand if they get caught.
I have been meaning to get one of these forever too, I have had gas stolen many a times. They usually just shove a stick down to get past your filter screen. Also locking gas caps are good as lots of people out here have had their car tanks sugared. Just an FYI to Calgarians, lots of cases of this happening over at Chinook LRT station parking lot.

Depends on...
Depends on whether I'm the one who catches them or not.
I can't make a person go to jail, but feel pretty sure I can make them regret stealing gas from a parked car. Of course, I wouldn't, like, shoot them or anything, but I would not be above delivering an old-fashioned a$$-whipping to a thief.
It's pathetic that someone would steal at all, though, idnit? If a person asked, I would probably help them buy some gas. I know it's usually a scam, but I have given $5 here and there to sob-story bums. Their stories could be true, occasionally. Case-by-case basis, ya know.

Shit man, you need to chill out. It's just a few gallons of gas not a murdered little girl or something.
