two little issues: reverse and e-brake adjustment

is it hard for anyone else to get the transmission in reverse? a lot of times it "seems" to go in, but it's actually in neutral. i have to wiggle it a bit to get it to slide all the way into R. sometimes if i'm not paying enough attention, it seems to grind a little bit, before i move it to neutral and put it back into R (almost as if it wasn't engaged fully).

also, is the e-brake adjustable? i plan on having the dealer look at it on my first oil change. it doesn't seem to grab the first few clicks at all.

thanks!

No problem for reverse here. I usually put it into third first and then go into reverse and it's smooth as can be. I also haven't noticed the e-brake issue. Mine seems to grab as soon as it starts to click. It doesn't take much of a yank at all to get it to hold.

Good luck!

I have very little experience driving a stick shift, but I had no problem getting the tranny in reverse when I test drove a Fit. If you are having problems, I would have the dealer check it out for you.

This is an "issue" notorious with Hondas, infact my 1999 Honda Civic DX Hatchback still at times will have this occur. After awhile you'll eventually get to know the feeling when reverse is actually not in gear and be able to prevent the slight grinding occurrence. The most common fix for this issue, is actually what you're doing already. However, most people go from first gear then through neutral back into reverse.

As for the E-Brake, it is infact adjustable. It usually takes roughly 5-10 mins of tightening the tension provided on the E-Brake cables, Honda will usually do this for you during any brake inspection, or replacement.

Same thing with my reverse... try to leg the clutch go just
a bit and it usualy enter smouth.

For the e-brake, you can
adjust it yourself by undoing the 2 two bolts at the back of
the center console, you will see the brake cable and you will
be able to adjust it... Please, not less than 4 clicks before it
engage because your rear drums will drag... You will find that,
by the way, the brake pedal travel will be shorter, it's normal,
by adjusting the e-brake, you adjust the drums so the brake
pedal travel also... I hope you understand my english...

ive had this problem with my m/t Fit for a long time
its difficult sliding into reverse smoothly
if im in a rush ill accidently grind it

here what ive discovered so far from personal experience with my Fit:
-as soon as a start the fit and try to put it in reverse (with my foot on the brakes and clutch, and the e-brake up) it wont go in R gear on the first attempt
-you would have to attempt like three time before getting it in
-i tried putting it in gears with my foot on the brakes and the e-brake down, and it still wont go in smoothly
-ive tried with the e-brake up and my foot only on the cluthch it still isnt smooth
(occasionally, these would work, but most of the time it isnt smooth)

-the only time it goes in smoothly is when the ebrake is donw and i have my foot only on the clutch, then it shifts in, if im at a dead stop

With my old car, I usually put it into first gear then into reverse. That seems to always prevent the gear from grinding.
