Service Responsibility
I will be buying my Fit from a distant / non-local dealership (~3 hr. drive).
This will be the 1st time I've purchased a vehicle in this manner.
Will my local dealership honor the Honda warranty?
Will the local dealership feel "cheated" because I did not purchase from them directly?
As we all know, these cars are difficult to locate, and even moreso if you are looking for a specific setup.
Would it be worthwhile to purchase an extended package from my local dealer to reinforce this connection ( assuming I can geta fair price - like $??? )?
Can anyone comment on their experiences when seeking service from a dealer who wasn't the selling party?
This forum rocks...

Dealers make more money on service than on the initial transaction. In fact, dealers will often employ tricks or gimmicks to foster loyalty such as offering the first few services free. I don't expect the local dealer will treat you any differently than if you had bought it there. The salesmen may not like you but service (and the dealership as a whole) will (my 2 cents).

Reading the thread It sounds like the words have been taken right out of my mind. I bought my fit close to three hours from my residence so, I wondered the exact same thing...
I do have to admit that Northwest Honda as been fair. I got the feeling from the other 20 dealers that I would be taken advantage of.... most of them did not listen to what I asked for. None of them knew what they wanted to charge for the fit back in april of 06.
Northwest Honda was hassle free transaction for 2 Honda Fits I purchased.

I purchased my fit with 7k,in another city.On the way home my daughter got tangled in the rear belt, infact I had to cut the belt to free her.My brother thought I should call honda,I did,They said go to my local dealer,no problem that I was not the original owner (the vehicle was under warranty)and your local honda dealer is your interface with warranty service. They treated me great, called honda replaced the belt for free, and have since given me such outstanding service One might have thought I purchased my vehicle from their dealership.
