Geez...I feel like I'm gettin raped! I have a $100/300/100 policy with no extras except uninsured and underinsured coverage and I'm paying around $135 a month. 31/single/no accidents or tickets in the past 5 years/and I'm a freakin PROFESSIONAL DRIVER!! Somethings definitely wrong here.

Two things that dropped my insurance--the best being past the 25 year mark:

1. Getting married
2. Buying a house in a quiet area (moved from the University District in Seattle)

I've got a neighbor in a similar position (married, clean record, later twenties), who pays $140 a month for an STi. Another thing that may make a bigger deal for per car costs are the number of cars you insure. I have three cars insured: a commuter, pleasure car, and pay-per-use weekend car.

If nothing else, combine uses (house, car, etc) and shop around. Best of luck!

Im 21, live in ontario... 300 dollars a month, full coverage, 500 dollar deductable. So approx 3600 a year. Up 50 dollars from my 99 civic with full coverage. I used to pay 500 a month for my civic... Ontario has the worst insurance rates in Canada i believe. And im insured under my parents address up in cottage country, not even my own address in Toronto. If it was in my name here, 800 a month... Doesnt help that i dont have my full G licence, but even if i did i only save 10% every year i have it... so atleast 5 years until i get down to a reasonable rate, and thats including being over 25 at that point.

Oh and i remember last time i was shopping around for a car, i was considering an STi, got a quote, 900 a month, under my parents address. Of course, that was under the old insurance company that was charging me 500 for the civic, but still, ridiculous.

the thing that pissed me off was when I had my 2002 wrx, insurance was cheaper by $100/year... WTF?? twice the horsepower, 1/2 # of total airbags, frequently stolen.. and it was cheaper, costs of repair is high for subaru's!! I think my insurance is up to something here!
BINGO, Markham is not a dangerous city as per car theft as is Toronto, they have some standards when giving you a particular rate and the place you live is VERY important for them... go even further north, Timmins for instance and you will pay no more than $800/year w/out any additional house insurance or any group rate...
Also you have house insurance and a group rate, that gives you lower premiums...

I'm 45, 25 years/1 mil kms driving experience, what about you? So you see why you pay so much per year? Gain driving experience, no accidents at all, minimum traffic tickets, get a FULL G licence (so pass the highway test) and of course you'll get to pay way less than now... but until then... that's life... but at least you get to drive a good car, just go and live in Cuba where those poor people not even on TV they are allowed to see imperialistic stuff...
Drive safely

Oh yeah, i totally understand why i pay so much, i just think its robbery. I know a few people from montreal, some younger than me, like 17, 18, own their own brand new cars, and pay around 110 dollars a month for car insurance because quebec has public auto insurance. My record is clean, for the last 5.5 years, no tickets, no accidents, i just havent been able to get an appointment to get my G as for the longest time i didnt have my own car and didnt have access to a car while the drive test office was open. Now i work nights and cant find the time to make it into the drive test during the day. But sometime in the next few months ill take a day off and go and do it. But i still think its terrible that even if i do get my G, ill only save 10% a year for the first 5 years, even after all that, itll take forever for my rate to get down to the rates other provinces and people in the US pay.

Ya, I'm paying so much even with a high deductible. However, considering I'm not married and renting, I'm sure that factors in. I even put a $1000 deductible on it. That's because I'm quite sure of my driving ability. The only thing I can't account for is deer, but even so, I like my odds all the way around. It just sucks that I can't get a better rate than that. I know it'll go down the longer I'm with them on this car...but eh...still.

Paying as much as the OP. Funny thing is, I pay $38 less than what I was paying for the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX I just sold. Talking to the rep I was like 'wtf, it costs about the same to insure my econobox as my turbo beast?'

Just the opposite for me. Geico wanted what amounted to $129.50 a month. I switched to Liberty Mutual for what amounts to $79.83 a month.

But that's for full coverage on the Fit and liability on my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with only 70,000 miles on it and my 93 Chevy Silverado K1500 4x4 Pick Up Truck with 150,000 miles on it.

Figuring 17,000 miles a year on the Fit. Looking like 18,000 now. And
1,000 miles each on the other 2 vehicles.

Male 45, Alabama, Home Owner (home insured elsewhere)
$500 deductible
Annual Premium Per Vehicle
Vehicle 1: 2007 HOND FIT SPORT $639.00
Vehicle 2: 1993 CHEV PICKUP1500 $154.00
Vehicle 3: 1998 JEEP GRCHRLTDOR $165.00

I don't know the $?/$?/$? off hand for each and don't have the policy handy.

I shopped around and got a quote from esurance.com for $1,151 and for the same insurance with the same company at insure.com was $929 so it pays to shop around. Instead of $929 it ended up being $958 a year. Now you know who's paying for all those esurance commercials.

I was already with Geico and they wanted $777 for just 6 months which would be $1,554 a year. Guess they wanted me to pay for some of their commercials.

So I saved $596 a year by shopping around.

Also I had 1 speeding ticket in 10-04. No accidents.

BigBadMadMan, I always ask if there's a "Professional Drivers Discount".
